They did that by us on 12/7/25 .  It was SO loud, we were at our favorite restaurant and they went running out to see what it was.  I said WOW, I heard that at home, what is it???  They said fighter planes in memorium.....since my father was in WWII (Normandy Invasion) I felt wonky.  However, I'm glad they haven't forgotten.

I can't believe some of the comments! Don't you know these planes are going to protect us and maybe save our lives one day?? It's really a shame you were a bit unnerved.

I am on the SE coast and we have a small local airport nearby.  The military sometimes uses it for Osprey takeoff and landing practices.

These are not "fighter" jets, but a combo helicopter, cargo, sea faring craft.  Huge and loud.  Some folks enjoy seeing them, and they are awesome to look at, but because of the loudness I find them unsettling.

Maybe it was a Service Team ( such as Blue Angels) practicing for a performance somewhere in the area. When I lived at China Lake they always practiced formations close to th ground for several days before scheduled performances.

Just like @patbz  said. Military jet flyovers are a common pre-game tradition for Philadelphia Eagles home games. So we are used to the jets flying over our area beforehand.

Having worked in the Pentagon on 9/11, it was eerie going back to work the next day and seeing/hearing no commercial planes in the sky (we are very close to Reagan National Airport).  The only planes flying were the miltary jets.  When I heard them, I was thankful.

I still am.

They have to practice some time.  Be glad they are doing just that.  The alternative would be scary.

We don't live far from an air base.  We see these fly overs all the time.  I love it!  The thrill of seeing them manuver makes me very happy.  They are so skilled.  Hope you didn't have a serious issue in your area.

@brandiwine Same here.  I live about 4 mi from a base and I love to see and hear them.  There's usually 4 at a time.  They are so beautiful.

Yes, they make a lot of noise and I can see why they are scary if you're not used to them.

But I am used to them and I  thank God that they are up there for our protection!

We owned a second home in AZ. It had to be disclosed in RE documents that we were near a military base and would hear the jets. There was also a seldom used RR track. The train whistle could be heard at night.

I live near the coast (Pacific) and the noise the fighter jets make when flying over is very loud.  Also, when the Star Link rockets take off they make sonic booms when going through their stages.

I used to walk over to the beach to watch the rockets launch from Vandenberg.     di

My husband was stationed at Vandenberg and we are still in the area.  We can see the launch slicks from our front porch.  The launches never get old, we love watching them.
