Have you told any gym employees who might be sympathetic to your plight? Maybe the night time cleaning crew could help you out.

qvcaddition, there's a poster on the pet lovers forum....57babe whom is quite an expert on cats. You might try posting there also. Good luck and bless you.

I agree its nice you care and have done your share. Here it is against the law to feed feral cats. The one area had a huge issue with a lot of them. (not our area but in the same county). Around here people are told to put one of those trap cages down and take it to the rescue league instead of feeding. Yeah then I bet they put them down :-(
So at least you tried.

please keep us posted on this kitty's plight; I feed ferals all the time; very hard to get them to trust strangers; by nature they will be cautious.....would be good if you could get some antibiotics to put in the food so that maybe that would help the eye.l..good luck! We have an organization here called Feral Friends; don't know if they have a website or not but you might google and see if there are any links to your area for a similar organization to help.

The trap didn't work today. I came close. He was sitting by three empty bowls I filled with dry and two cans of wet food. I go the same time every day and he came and let me almost pet him. I put one bowl at the opening of trap with the chicken and it almost worked. I tried to push his little body in and he moved away, so I left it and went into the gym, lifted the weights, talked to people I knew to kill time and every now and then looked to see if he went near or in trap, but no. I had to go, so filled the other two bowls. I was, able to touch the top of his head with two fingers for a split second. He didn't,t come up to the car this time, but was laying in the bark when I drove up. I,m not sure if he is feral or abandoned.Anyway will try again tomorrow.
UPSIDE DOWN, when I call my Vet tomorrow, I will ask about your suggestion of antibiotics in his food. Usually though they always want the animal in for an exam, but maybe they might when I explain the situation.
As far as the people who are at the front desk of the gym, I had asked once If he could stay in there at night and the Mgr. said no, and I can understand. Someone gave them a big bag of dry food awhile back and one of the girls at the desk remembered last week and gave it to me. Anyway, I will keep trying with the trap, but can,t keep it there for fear someone will take it, plus I need to be there if he did go in. At least he is eating. Thanks for caring with me.

The fact that he almost let you pet him is an excellent sign. He is probably not a true feral and is a cat that has been abandoned. He must have had people contact in his earlier life. Keep trying, but patience is a virtue. Catching a kitty can be one step forward, two steps back. LOL.
Antibiotics in his food is an excellent idea. Let us know what the vet says.

I just called my Vet's office and legally they cannot prescribe meds without seeing the cat. They know me and will try to figure out something and call me if they do. They suggested the humane society and I do know the supervisor having volunteered there before. The vet's office said they will not put the cat down, and they might go out and trap it themselves, I will promise to pay for meds and neutering, if that is what the cat needs and want it released to where he is used to being, not to be put down. I am going to talk to them Wednesday when they open. They are closed Monday and Tues. and don't answer their phone. Funny they all do good work for animals, but it's hard to get help for a stray or feral cat. They know they can attack, yet they want the person to trap them instead of those that are in the business of animals. We have no one in or around my town that does this except the pound as we used to call the Animal Control officer, comes out for a captured or stray dog.
This afternoon, I will ask the girl at the desk in the gym about the vet that use to work out there, if he is still attending this gym. A new sophisticated gym opened in town last year, and almost everyone went there, but I've been at this one for at least twenty-five years, and too old for the high tech cutsey stuff. Anyway, I think if he was still going there, he would have done something, you would hope. I won't post again until I get some results, good or not so good. I keep praying. Thanks again.
