Re: Fentanyl Pills packaged as Skittles and Nerd candy packages

@skatting44 that's my state and I haven't heard anything about it Smiley Sad. You'd think it would be all over the local news.

This fentanyl situation is scary and heartbreaking.

Yes but then it's not a dog whistle. I have read that Fentanyl is a "hot topic" on certain nightly shows.

Exactly.

Most of it gets here through the mail and hidden within huge shipping containers. It's bought and sold on the internet. They even sell it through LinkedIn and Facebook, for crying out loud. There's no need for the criminals to use impoverished Mexican heroin mules or whatever racism is being alluded to in all the "border crossing" language.

There's a well known fentanyl precursor pipeline from China, which is where it is almost all manufactured. But the usual talking heads are trying to make turn Texas' border and security problems into a national political push right now.

They always have one simple implausible solution that they claim would conveniently solve every problem. And if that didn't work, they would come up with some other simplistic slogan.

This is like the new War on Christmas. They needed something for Halloween. So they came up with a new dangerous candy to scare viewers. Deadly Nerds, people. I guess they're not worried about razor blades hidden in caramels anymore.

It's so weird how none of the people who repeat these kinds of claims ever demand any proof. And they never question why they're being constantly manipulated to feel so angry and afraid by what they read and watch on tv.

Detectives seize narcotics in suspected trafficking operation between Mexico and Oxnard, California

Ventura County Star

Methamphetamine, cocaine, firearms and cash seized during a narcotics trafficking investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. Suspects allegedly smuggled drugs from Mexico for distribution in Ventura County.

Ventura County Sheriff's investigators seized 60 pounds of methamphetamine, 2 pounds of cocaine and thousands of fentanyl-laced pills as part of a three-month investigation into a suspected drug trafficking operation between Mexico and Ventura County.

Detectives with the narcotics unit had identified a 39-year-old former Oxnard man who now lives in Tijuana as the suspected coordinator of shipments across the Mexican border.

The drugs were reportedly stored at safehouses in the greater Los Angeles area before couriers transported them to Ventura County, where they would be distributed to street-level dealers and users.

As part of the investigation, detectives intercepted multiple shipments while they were in progress.

Methamphetamine, cocaine, and counterfeit pills seized during a narcotics trafficking investigation by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

On Aug. 12, detectives intercepted about 30 pounds of meth and 5,000 counterfeit pills — believed to be laced with fentanyl — that were meant for delivery to Oxnard, sheriff's officials said. Detectives had witnessed another delivery two days prior with a smaller number of fentanyl-laced pills that were later seized during a warrant search.

On Aug. 26, detectives seized 6 pounds of meth during a vehicle search while intercepting another drug shipment to Oxnard. On Sept. 16, detectives searched a suspected safe house in Compton and seized 20 pounds of methamphetamine as well as cocaine, an assault rifle, ammunition and thousands of dollars in cash.

More drugs were seized during other warrant searches in Oxnard, Los Angeles and in Garden Grove in Orange County, authorities said.

Detectives ultimately detained seven suspects connected to the alleged operation: three Oxnard men age 19 to 22, two Los Angeles men age 21 and 30, a 26-year-old Compton man and a 29-year-old Garden Grove woman.

No matter waht country these drugs are comming from- there has to be an all effort Priority to stop the flow as these drugs are killing  adults, teens, and children .

The DEA  and other Law Enforcement  have confiscasted thousands of pills and drugs , but how much of  Fentanyl and other drugs have flowed into the country already ?

And the flow continues each day .....

U.S. Citizen Consumers Fund Fentanyl Smuggling

U.S. consumer payments for illicit opioids ultimately fund fentanyl smuggling. Consumers pay retail dealers who pay wholesalers, and the cash is then transferred back in bulk cash form to Mexico. These funds are then used to pay smugglers to bring drugs back into the United States again. The best evidence indicates that about 99 percent of U.S. consumers of fentanyl (or products containing fentanyl) are U.S. citizens.[i] Noncitizens appear to be about 80 percent less likely to be fentanyl consumers than their share of the population would predict. Fentanyl smuggling is almost entirely conducted on behalf of U.S. citizen consumers. Of course, consumers would prefer much safer and legal opioids over illicit fentanyl, but the government has unfortunately forced them into the black market with few safe options.

U.S. Citizens Are Fentanyl Traffickers

Fentanyl is primarily trafficked by U.S. citizens. The U.S. Sentencing Commission publishes data on all federal convictions, which includes demographic information on individuals convicted of fentanyl trafficking. Figure 1 shows the citizenship status of fentanyl traffickers for 2018 to 2021. Every year, U.S. citizens receive the most convictions by far. In 2021, U.S. citizens accounted for 86.3 percent of fentanyl trafficking convictions compared to just 8.9 percent for illegal immigrants.

Facts:  The War on Drugs in America since Nixon declared it in the 70's has never been successful.  It will never be successful because there are too many moving parts of it for there to be any real changes in policies. In addition there's a lot of money being made from it.

We just swap one drug for the next big thing.  The untold millions and billions of dollars already spent is only "reactive."  That's all it seems we can do is to react rather than prevent.  Don't think we can "prevent" drugs from coming into the US on a grand scale.

It is likely seen as a moral problem rather than public health problem (similar to alcohol).

Re: Fentanyl Pills packaged as Skittles and Nerd candy packages

My heart is aching as I read this story.😔 It is most disturbing that the dealers are now disguising it to look like candy. With the number of teens that have died as a result of its use on the rise, I HOPE and pray that schools are making outreach and awareness a priority!!!🙏

Education begins at home, but peer pressure is so pervasive. I do not want ANYONE to fall prey to this malignant drug, but our most vulnerable generation worries me the most.😐

Local news doesn't mention it much, but they don't mention a lot of things.

I would definity watch the holloween candy.  I worried about My great grand children.  I don't think their parents watch a lot of news and don't want to hear what i say.

Hopefully they see it on all the internet stuff they do.

Re: Fentanyl Pills packaged as Skittles and Nerd candy packages

@skatting44

It has been well known by those that be, for quite some time, where the ingredients that make Fentanyl, are coming from. Along with that, they also know where these ingredients are manufactured into these little pills.

Last year over 100,000 deaths in the United States were attributed to Fentanyl, not from an Overdose, just from the amount of Fentanyl in 1 pill. The main age group is 18-45 years old.

What have those that be said or done about this? Absolutely nothing that I have heard or seen.  Ever wonder why? I have and I also answer by own questions. What is the biggest cause of evil in the world? Power and $$$$.

Worried about kids and Halloween? Add that to your list of other worries about the whys and whatfors happening these days in our country.

Los Angeles Schools to Carry Narcan After Spate of Student Overdoses

All 1,400 schools will be equipped with the overdose-reversing drug after at least seven teens overdosed and one died.

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Unified School District will provide its schools with medication to remedy opioid overdoses after several teenagers overdosed on pills laced with fentanyl, including a 15-year-old girl who died.

Investigators believe the students purchased a pill containing fentanyl from another youth at nearby Lexington Park, believing it was the prescription painkiller Percocet.

The students then took the drug on campus and lost consciousness. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported two additional teen overdoses near the park that same day. All of the victims are students at L.A.-area schools.

Two boys, ages 15 and 16, were arrested last week in connection with Ramos’ death and other drug sales in the area.

L.A. Police Chief Michel Moore said the teens were “simply pawns that are being used by adults and by drug trade organizations” and that authorities are trying to find the supplier.
