He said, the officer had his license plate number and even if he had an outstanding warrant from family court, go through the proper channels. DH said there is no way he would waste the energy running to apprehend this guy.
I believe the p.o. will be convicted for manslaughter and he will end up in prison and prisons in the South are not a very nice place to be.
He is being charged with murder, not manslaughter. He deliberately shot to kill that man. Big difference.

Wow! What a brave young man!
I totally understand why he's scared, I would be, too... the people who should be protecting him may be out to get him. It's horrifying.

Oooooo....I have not had the t.v. or radio on since last night and even then, I didn't see any news.
Thanks for the correction. YIKES! I thought that for murder charges there had to be pre-meditation or a purposeful intent. I am NOT defending this officer, I'm just not sure how the States Attorney determines charges and if they different from state to state.
Again, there is no defense for this.

Gooday, there are different levels of murder charges. I think manslaughter is when someone didn't mean to kill but it happened anyway. I'd have to check to make sure.

There was intent. He stood in one place...didn't even try to chase the guy...and used him for target practice until the final 8th shot that killed him.
He intended to keep shooting until he was dead...and then he tried to cover up the murder by placing the taser near his body.
The scary thing is - he almost got away with it!

Just as so many other have gotten away with it. Maybe now some will think twice.

This is far from Manslaughter. Murder is the correct charge. Probably Murder One--as it should be

ITA! Can you imagine how many cops are still in uniform that have murdered in cold blood!

This cop deserves to go to jail for the rest of his life. PERIOD. He shot a man running away from him in the back.

I saw other reports this morning that this particular officer had other formal charges filed against him for unnecessary violence. I have the feeling the chief must have known he was a ticking time bomb.
