@bargainsgirl wrote:I am totally against feeding birds. It is totally unnecessary. All wild animals can and should fend for themselves and if not, then that is mother nature's way of taking care of them. We have people feeding deer, squirrels, etc. and it is crazy. It also definitly attracts rats which is one reason they are growing in numbers in the suburbs. This according to our local health department. BIrd feeding has become a hobby but not a good one. Of course think of the $$ seed sellers make along with all those cute houses. I know many will disagree with me but think about it....

Just like with many/most bugs, maybe even worse, if possible, I think rats are going to outlive us no matter what!!
Heck, they were extensively chomping on the wires in my car!! What nutritional benefit was that? And they had quite the banquet!! Never did I ever ...
They also moved on to eating my electrical, water pipes in the basement, & walls of my last house.
They moved to my home, after nah dah, for 8 yrs. This vermin invasion, at my home, because of razed houses, same land parcel, new houses built back up, in days! (at the other end of my side street. Yet this rae/build was coming closer to my house. Go figure! Rats werent even patient enough to stay there, at their own usual comfy homes, waiting mere days for their newly built home. heh Y'know, familiar territory.
Apparently "their" (under house) rats moved on to my basement, & walls, AND INSIDE THE CAR! After nah-dah for 8 years!! They just find another place. Incredible Survivor Skills! They're gonna outlive us all!
I cant imagine any possible way to get rid of *all* rats. Unfortunately. Not my fave animal. Neither are bugs! And I'm an wholeheartedly fervent Animal Lover!
And I will NOT starve any other animals, or birds, that I carefully, (with homework) feed, because of these nasty azz vermin.
Whew! I guess I'm passionate abt this - heh ![]()
