@SilleeMee  New stuff doesn't affect current filing for 2017.  I just like to do a little planning and adjust withholding so I don't get a nasty surprise by being under w/h or an annoying surprise by being over w/h, when I could have had more fun insyead of scrimping.  Some of us don't just throw our hands in the air, with que sera, sera.  Some of us have decided that some planning has value.

Question:

Will we be seeing the new tax reform applied right now or is this not happening until the 2018 filing?

2018 filing.  But, many people have noticed that their take home pay is more now that less taxes are being taken out.

Thank you! @FrostyBabe1 @excpa @Carmie

That's what I thought...2018, but I wasn't absolutely sure.

We’re still waiting for various 1099’s.  And we haven’t received the questionnaire booklet thingy that our accountant sends out every year.

We should be ready to file in about 3 weeks.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I haven't gotten my 1099-R yet or my 1095-A which is the one from the health insurance marketplace. I think last year my 1095-A didn't get to my house until after the 31st.

To all of you who are so sure that you will get your refunds, I say Dreamers!

We will have to pay. I already did a rough estimate, no surprise. But, if we are in a governemt shut down at that time, will I get more time? Probaby not.

I just went and looked at my 2 paychecks so far in 2018 and my take home pay is $2 more than my 2017 checks (I'm a salaries employee).

I just try to break even.  If I get a large refund I am doing something wrong!   Have not received all the paperwork needed to file yet.

@DiAnne  I agree.  I really don't understand overpaying on your taxes to get a refund the next year.
