Re: February's Bird Nest - Valentine's Edition

Stripes has been a super good boy EXCEPT yesterday/last night. Could not find him anywhere and hardly saw him in the afternoon. I think perhaps the kids and their Mom were outside chopping up some more limbs and hovering everywhere outside and he does NOT like that. He is fine with one person, but more, he gets a tad skittish. Went outside and checked a few minutes ago and he was not even up on his blankie snoozing. When he does this am sure he is ok but even so, I always sweat him out.

Suppose to be up into the 80s today - can you imagine? Course way back when, I remember a few Decembers - Christmas time - we were in the 90s. I had a really hard time dealing with Christmas with doors and windows open - did not like it. LOL. That was not long after I came to California - in 1960.

Winds are really strong outside and are suppose to get even worse = keep fingers crossed no fires start from those winds.

Well the morning news is after all that rain we had, they - whomever that is - is debating on raising the fines to those not cutting back on water use. What a rip off these water companies are doing. They already have increased the rates something fierce and fines galore for doing this wrong and that wrong - etc - and while most have cut back on usage the water companies will continue to get as much revenue - if not more - than ever. Interesting isn't it?

Hope all have a great day.

By the way Possum, I did look up about the Cardinals and saw they are increasing their strongholds - even up into Canada a bit but NOTHING in California. Oh well.

Hello all - the bird of the day is the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

Re: February's Bird Nest - Valentine's Edition

Hello Birding Friends - I awoke feeling lousy (sore throat, sneezing, chills and cough) so I did my co-workers a favor and called in for the day. I started the Zicam at 5:15 and will stay with the strict 3 hour schedule which should knock whatever this out right out.

I have Vicenza day on in the background and am trying avoid playing with Presto too much because I don't want to pass anything on to my birds. She loves when I am home so I'm washing my hands - ALOT.

The bird of the day is the Rock Thrush, which comes in different colors

Bird mama - do you take Zicam rapid melts, ultra melts? I have never heard of this, but I just googled it and I think DD should have this on hand since she gets so many colds where she is.

Mousie - I use the cherry flavored Rapid Melts. They are about the size of a dime and taste fruity and a wee bit chalky. They start to dissolve as soon as you place them in your mouth.

They ask that the patient avoid drinking or eating anything for 15 minutes after it dissolves. It's not too bad. I swear by Zicam.

Thank you, Bird mama. I am going to buy some and send it back with her in March.
