Re: Favorite Christmas song ... or not...

There are so many Christmas songs that I love to hear, My folks used to play the Christmas records this time of year, and when I got old enough to learn how to use the record player, I would play them also. "White Christmas" by Bing Crosby, "The Christmas Song" by Nat King Cole; no one can sing those songs like those two. My least favorite..."Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer". Ridiculous.

The Little Drummer Boy.

My GreatGrandMother was the only one in the family who let me play it over and over again at her house on (an LP) even when it was summer time.

Before I say this, I assure you all that I'm overjoyed that you all love it, but I absolutely cannot and if given any choice WILL NOT listen to "Oh Holy Night" Not sung by ANYONE.

I simply cannot bear the song.

I REPEAT, I AM THRILLED THAT EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD LOVES IT. I just don't.

Re: Favorite Christmas song ... or not...

I'm really not a huge fan of Christmas music either.  When I listen to it, it has to be instrumental or a large choral production.  However, the one exception for me is, "Mary, Did You Know?" but only. the writer's, Mark Lowry, version.

Re: Favorite Christmas song ... or not...

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has come to make you new?
This Child that you delivered will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy will calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little Baby you kissed the face of God?

Mary did you know.. Ooo Ooo Ooo

The blind will see.
The deaf will hear.
The dead will live again.
The lame will leap.
The dumb will speak
The praises of The Lamb.

Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know
that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know
that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you're holding is the Great, I Am.

I love SO many but I find I light up when The Little Drummer Boy by the Ray Coniff Singers, from the 50's or 60's I think, comes on. Reminds me of long gone family and I smile.
