Fast, Easy Gift

[ Edited ]

Just an idea for anyone who wants to give an easy, relatively inexpensive, but nice gift:

I went to Wallyworld and bought some gift bags for about $1.49 each, they look like little shopping bags, brown paper with a nice holiday design and handles.

I filled them about half-way with three different sizes of oranges, large and medium and then the clementine type. Each bag ended up with about 15 pieces of fruit. Here in Texas the citrus is really nice right now, and very reasonable in price.

They were a big hit. This may be of help to someone in a hurry.

Merry Christmas!

I remember growing up where adults gave oranges and nuts to everyone in a tiny paper bag.  It was always fun to receive them.    Yum always.  Thanks for the memories.  It still remains a great gift.

Wonderful idea.  DH was filling stockings the other night with all candy.  I told him that I never used candy ... my stockings were always fruit filled.  He laughed and said that's why he bought candy.  I still prefer fruit.  Guess he'll get all the candy in mine.

Oranges and nuts in the shells were always in my Christmas stocking at my Grandma's house.

Moms church still delivers a bag like this to their sick and shut-ins for Christmas.   Mom looks forward to the old fashioned peppermint stick most of all.

Not only did you bring back memories of my childhood Christmas stocking that had a great big PERFECT orange and apple in it, you gave me a great idea for my neighbors!

Thank you so much! I'm off to the store!

When I was young, we always received a treat after the Christmas program at our little country church -- a small brown bag containing fruit, nuts, and old-fashioned hard/ribbon candy. I think it had to do with the fact that many of the members at the time were older, so that was typical for them.
