Fargo Man’s Will Calls For His Dog To Be Buried With Him

Please see CROEMER's thread on VIEWPOINTS. Dog is going to be killed to be buried with his guardian. This is heinous.

Is there someone who can work with her thread to start a petition to protest this?

This needs to be stopped. Perhaps there is a petition going at this point -- please check online and/or at VIEWPOINTS.

I'll post the link to the story....

Re: Fargo Man’s Will Calls For His Dog To Be Buried With Him

So sad unless the dog is old and in poor health. I have the ashes of my beloved pets who have passed on on a memorial book case in my bedroom. I have left instructions that they are to be buried with me when I die. It would never occur to me to ask that a pet be put to sleep to be buried with me. Can't imagine what this man was thinking. If there are people who love the pup, I hope they are stepping forward to save him. Such a tragedy.

Re: Fargo Man’s Will Calls For His Dog To Be Buried With Him

Many people do not have anyone willing or able to take care of their pets after they are gone. I am sure he is doing what he feels is best for his pet also. If I did not have anyone I trusted them with, I would much rather see them humanly put down. I could not bear the thought of them being passed around to people who did not want them of even worst end up in a shelter.

Someday, when scientists discover the center of the Universe....some people will be disappointed it is not them.

Re: Fargo Man’s Will Calls For His Dog To Be Buried With Him

There was an almost identical situation in my area a couple of years ago. An old man, a healthy Golden Retriever, & his wish was to kill his dog.

I'm don't remember how they got around it, but a HEAVENLY local rescue group I work with put out an emergency email to help save the dog. They had numerous responses immediately, & the dog is now living with a family (and the rescue group is VERY careful to match the pet with the perfect family).

I understand the mans wishes, but sometimes there are people who will love & take care of the pet.

I hope it works out for the dog...God Bless.

What a nice outcome.

I don't understand this kind of request, in any way, shape, or form. This is one of the most selfish things I've ever heard of.

I totally understand that most pet owners don't have a plan in place to deal with their pet when they pass. I don't.

I also understand that while it might be a legal request, that doesn't make it the right or humane thing to do. Here's hoping that a person or agency intervenes to keep this selfish man's wish from being carried out.

I would hope he's thinking AFTER the dog passes, to bury him with him. Hopefully someone will take care of him till he passes.

Re: Fargo Man’s Will Calls For His Dog To Be Buried With Him

There's only one person I know who would take care of my 3 cats as well as I do--my DBF. If he wasn't in the picture. I would want their ashes with mine. I don't think it's selfish; we would all be together up at the Bridge, along with my cats and dogs who are already there waiting.

Indy-Blonde2...

You think it's perfectly reasonable to have a healthy pet (and we don't know that the dog isn't healthy) put down, just so he can be buried with you?

Sorry, I think that's preposterous. Not to mention inhumane.

I doubt your dog cares whether or not you're together at The Bridge.

This is one of those decisions that is all about the owner, and not about the pet. Many regrettable decisions are made using this line of thinking.
