Families of 6 (4 kids 2 ad) Any ideas to avoid 2 hotel rooms when traveling?

My friend called me today...she wants to take family on vacation and is disappointed -- most hotels requiring her to get two hotel rooms. She looked into Atlantis, two rooms too expensive. Anyone have any ideas, thoughts on a way to get around this? Or other options! thanks all!

Many hotels especially those like extended stay offer one and two bedroom suites instead of the old fashioned "adjoining rooms".

Hotels in resort areas or popular vacation destinations will offer a room with king bed, sofa pullouts and additional queen beds in the same room.

Usually in larger suites you get a fridge, microwave, etc and that can cut down the cost of eating out.

You're going to pay extra no matter your choice!

Sometimes they have cots or rollout beds. Maybe they'd allow sleeping bags that you take along. ??? Worth checking into before you go.

Residence Inns by Marriott have ""living quarters"" where you can easily sleep a family and includes a kitchen (all utensils are furnished). Each night they have a ""happy hour"" where they will serve anything from hamburgers to ice cream sundaes. Fun place especially when traveling with youngsters.

In many beach and other popular vacation areas, you can rent condos that offer more space and comfort and often end up being cheaper than hotel rooms........especially when you factor in kitchens where you can prepare some meals and avoid some of the usual restaurant expenses.

I am a property manager for out of the area homeowners who have second homes that they use as short term vacation rentals. They list their properties on sites such as HomeAway.com, VRBO.com (vacationrentalbyowner) Flipkey.com, My largest property is 3600 sq ft and has 4 bedrooms, 4 baths. And all the accommodations of home. Most properties will have fully stocked kitchens, pool towels if a private pool, and a starter of coffees, teas, dish soap, paper towels, toilet paper etc. really the only thing you need to do is shop for your own food. What they won't have is daily maid service but my company offers it to any guests at no charge for a mid stay linen change and additional fee if they want to have a housecleaning, many that are staying for 2 wks like this offer & use it. You will find that you can rent a home for the same price as a hotel but with the accommodations of a home, and you will save on food as you can cook in the home as opposed to going out when staying at a hotel. I think you will be surprised at what you can get by renting a home Smiley Happy My guests also benefit by receiving a fresh baked cake or baked goods, when they enter the home. My properties receive only 5 stars, anything less is unacceptable!! Look for the reviews on the properties you are interested in and if they have a manager that can attend to any questions or issues once you arrive. Sometimes I hear from my guests daily....and other times I won't hear from them during their whole 2 wk stay. Look for comments about cleanliness of the home etc. When a guest walks into my properties they have no idea that The previous guests left 5 hrs prior. I have a great team of housekeepers & we all work very hard to make sure each guest experience is the best they will ever have. Hope you find a perfect place for your vacation!!

Most hotels will not allow 6 people in a room. It is against code. Rent either a condo or suite.

I stay at a So. Cal. Marriott Residence Inn every year and they do NOT have ice cream, etc. *every* night. You are provided with a schedule of "events" and things. There are many, but not the same every day.

I agree, your friend should check out long-term places with larger sleeping accomodations.

What about air mattresses? I do know some facilities will bring in rollaway beds. Most motels now days have frig and microwave in their most basic rooms. But clear this in advance in case there is a code violation in that area.
