I have been getting these calls for a week. Calls are from DC/NY area. I get them only on my cell. It's a fake IRS agent who has a very heavy accent saying I am going to be arrested, the authorities are coming if I don't call back in the next 24 hours. I do not answer phone calls that I don't recognize. I looked this type of similar situation up and was shocked how common this was. People have been scammed and lost money. They have been wiring money to these fake people. I called the state police and they told me it's common and to ignore the calls. It is getting very frustrating. I have blocked the calls, but then I get the calls from an " unknown" number. All info is on the IRS website.

I was getting them about a month or two ago....but it was on my home phone....same sounding voice....very deep...sounded foreign...threats of being arrested if I didn't return his call.....then the calls stopped...guess he saw I wasn't scared of him so he moved on to someone else who might take him serious....

I've gotten one of them and I tell them ""come on over and arrest me but be sure to wear a protective vest before entering my patio room"". Next thing I hear is a ""dial tone"".

I got them for a week everyday. Initially they were recorded and I did not pay any attention. Eventually the last time I got a call from a real person on the other side and as usual he repeated the same thing which I have been hearing for the last few days. I told that person that if u called one more time I will report you to the authorities. Guess what? never got a call again.

My friend is a state trooper got these calls on his cell. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

The guy said it was regarding a payday loan. If he didn't fork over a cc number to cover it they'd arrest him.

He said he was too broke to pay but in order to do the right thing, he made arrangements to meet the caller at his city's police department the next day to "turn himself in".

Needless to say no one showed up.

Block the numbers. I've done that with a couple of numbers calling my cell.

About a month or so ago, my parents started getting these calls. Mom told the dude to just come on, and she called the sheriff and the IRS. I told her we needed to get a super loud whistle to keep beside the phone and she should just let them have it next time. I don't think they have called anymore.
