Anyone stop to think where our information went with the recent sweepstakes shared jointly with HSN inluding other contests? The outside company handling it, what do they do with all of the entry information?

@151949- I totally agree with you! I could say more about my thoughts on this but can’t do so without breaking the forum rules, so I won’t.

Did OP used to say Fins or Fins Up? I grew up in NJ, on the shore, I never heard either. What does it mean? Google came up empty too.
(not the Jimmy Buffet song fins to the left, fins to the right, etc.)

@gidgetghwrote:Even on a calm, no controversy day, very few things get the people who post on these boards worked up more than a conversation on Facebook does.
Everyone has their own comfort level. Use Facebook, don't use it. We can all do whatever we'd like. It's a beautiful thing.
But I always get a kick out of the people who trash Facebook and turn their noses down on it who have never even been on it. It's not the evil enemy everyone. It's a social platform. It's like me saying I hate hummus, when I've never even tried it.
Again, my comfort level is that I'm going to continue using Facebook. It brings me far more joy than discomfort. I worry about tons of things going on in our lives right now, but Facebook doesn't even hit my radar.
I'm with you, @gidgetgh, 100%.
Yes, it's clear from some posts (not just on this thread, but on many threads going back quite awhile) that lots of people are completely uninformed about FB, and yet choose to trash it.
Interestingly, I went into my settings yesterday to make the recommended changes, and nothing needed to be changed. I'm very on top of that kind of thing, and it's not really hard. Nothing on the internet is completely secure, but anyone who uses the internet at all should do the most they can to protect themselves. Not just on Facebook. Here, there, and everywhere! FB is not the big, bad wolf of the internet. Not by a long shot.
I'm completely comfortable using FB. I feel just fine about it, and - like you - it brings me much joy. It has kept my family and friends much, much closer in a way that would not otherwise be possible because we are scattered literally all over the world. It adds to my life in other ways too, and yet it is not my entire life. I'm happy to have it and would not want to be without it. Everyone else is free to do whatever they want.

I only read the first page of posts, so sorry if my comments are redundant.
First of all ..... WHY is anyone surprised by personal information getting out? If you joined FB, you AGREED to let them use your information "for marketing purposes".
That Terms of Use agreement is a LEGAL CONTRACT.
Secondly ..... for those that didn't bother to read the TOU agreement ..... just HOW do you think FB makes their money? Do you pay a monthly fee for using FB? Uh, no, it's FREE ..... and the stock is selling for more than $160 a share!
If you're not paying for this "service" they must be making their money somewhere else ... right?
Thirdly .... just what does anyone expect Mark Zuckerberg to say about him doing what he's always done? oi vey!
Okay, I'll get off my soap box.
I just find it mind-boggling that anyone is indignant over this whole thing. FB collects and mines information, and has done so since Day One.
If you sign or agree to the terms in any legal contract, READ the darn thing!
(Okay, I feel better now .... lol)
@Tinkrbl44 Sometimes you need to vent, that’s ok! I vented yesterday and feel much better. I’ve never trusted Facebook and never will. I understand the appeal though. To each their own.

I was in a restaurant at lunch yesterday and two women at the next table were having a rather spirited conversation about how DARE they use peoples' information .... blah blah blah .....
At one point I politely interrupted them and asked how much they paid each month for their FB membership. Simple questtion, right? They both said nothing and I asked them why do they think it's free ... and how do they think FB makes their money, anyway? You should have seen their expressions .... when the light bulbs above their heads went on .... lol.
