The police and FBI are having a hard time finding out who this person is. I'm so glad I'm not raising children during this day and age!
What is wrong with a school system and a town that gives in to threats?
Have we all become a bunch of wusses????
If this person continues threats - will there be no more school this year?
How about you step up into the position of authority and take responsibility, both morally and financially if a threat is made a reality? How about you look into the eyes of the parents of injured or worse kids if it all comes down?
How about people who have no inside knowledge or experience of these situations quit with the arm chair quarterbacking, and remember that safety of children trumps everything else.
NYC had a recent threat. They quickly discovered it was a hoax. They did the right thing.
These things happen in Israel constantly.
Life can't come to a halt over hoaxes and fears.
This is how it will be in this Country from now on ......maybe we will get better at it or maybe we will eliminate the source of these threats someday. Until then, we have to err on the side of caution to protect the most vulnerable, our children. You can't compare NY's response to Indiana, California or any State. In NY, there are incredible resources to deal with terrorism post 9/11. If these hoaxes continue, maybe allocating more resources to States by the Federal Government, may be in order but I hope it never gets to that. NY has an incredible number of threats daily and the with two WTC attacks, Probability suggests NYC will come under attack again and the City is best prepared more than any other place excluding Israel.

Can you explain that, @hoosieroriginal. How are they "hiding" the identity of people?
@brii - It has been all over the news about the apps that "hide" who you are when you send emails, phone calls and texts. It has really hurt the authorities who are trying to locate these people.

@151949 - But who wants to take a chance when childrens' lives are on the line? It's a real problem. Yes, it occurred to me it could be a teen also- but if it is, I hope they find that person and prosecute!

It is just horrible that things like this are happening!
Even hoaxes have a mental toll on the children and their parents.
I don't understand how someone can have FB and not get caught?
I know if I had stuff like that on FB I would be caught in 5 minutes.

Where did I say they should take a chance? People should not put words in other people's mouths. I am just saying I doubt these are credible threats.

They know it is the same person and It is on SAID PERSON'S facebook
page. The FBI can't find this person knowing the specific info above? I find that very hard to believe. Someone, in my opinion, is misleading someone.

IF they are on Facebook, it won't be hard to trace or find. I thought that New Hampshire had a hoax threat yesterday. Hmmmmmm. The students are having field days not having to go to school.

People who make threats like this really need to be found, and a huge, very public example needs to be made of them by throwing them in prison for the rest of their lives. Also, why is it that there are all these encryption protections for Facebook users, yet whenever I search the web for a scented candle or a DVD, the last item I looked at shows up in my Newsfeed on Facebook almost immediately? Facebook is keeping track of everything that I look at on the internet. In my opinion, there is an inbalance of ethics here because Zuckerberg feels that it's okay to stalk and collect data from his Facebook users, but he feels it's wrong that the government wants to look at that info to help protect people's lives. Yes, I signed up for Facebook and agreed to their terms and conditions, but I also pay my taxes, so I have the right to be protected. People these days want to make s3x tapes, text pictures of their private parts, and air out their family battles on reality tv, yet at the same time, they don't want the government reading their Facebook messages?? I check my bank accounts online every morning, so i can take action if someone does me wrong. The government already knows my SSN and how much money I have, so why would I, or anyone else, get bunged up over them seeing Facebook messages? Anyone, anywhere is free to look at what I'm searching for, including my Facebook messages, texts, photos, or my garbage. In my opinion, anyone who would care might be up to some pretty freaky stuff and probably needs to be checked out anyway.

This is my personal opinion, but threats are happening in other towns and airplanes etc.So I really believe it can't be a kid who is mad at a particular person or doesn't want to go to school on that day.Whoever is behind this wants us to live in fear. They can't take responsability for the threats, because then our government would take some actions that goes agains their goals. In my country(Italy) we are more aware of what is happening. Also there were more threats after the first one in Indiana and they mentioned the police dogs used to find explosives. So they have local connections who are spying on us.

Way back in the 70s, when I was in high school, kids used to call in threats to get out of exams. (not in MY school - a Catholic all girls school, but at the boys school and public schools.)
Kids were marched out into the street - the place was inspected - an "all clear" was given - and life went on - including tests!
This is nothing new.
FEAR is what is different. And we have nothing to fear but fear itself.
