Facebook public page question

I've always been able to view the public page after closing out by hitting the X.  The last few weeks I can't any longer. I found out when trying to view Valerie parr hills sneak peeks before her upcoming shows.  I've always been able to view that page even though not on Facebook.   Now I'm noticing it on any Facebook I  look at.   Has something changed that it won't now allow non members to view for those of you who are Facebook members.

Re: Facebook public page question

I logged out of my FB to test it.

It will not let me look at her page, the box to sign up just keeps popping up.

They must have changed it.

My advice, just make a fake Facebook and keep everything private/don't add any friends and you will be fine.

@Kitty Galore.  I don't know why you can't read the sites you've seen in the past.  Why don't you sign up for Facebook so you can access what you want to see?  You don't have to look at anything else.  It's not scary.  I promise goblins won't get you.

Re: Facebook public page question

I am encountering the very same situation with a couple of business sites I check daily.  The sites were hacked over the summer, so I figure requiring a sign in is a form of protection for the site.  It's annoying but not enough to entice me to create a FB account.

@MezzieStarr I know someone who did that. FB somehow figured it out and shut down the fake account and sent him a warning that if he did it again, he'd be kick off FB permanently.

Re: Facebook public page question

I've had a real and a fake FB account (with fake name) for years. Lots of people do. Also use a fake name on Nextdoor.

@Love my grandkids My guess is somebody reported the person as fake.  They do have a rule that your name must actually be your name, but I see a lot of names I know can't be real.  I had a friend who created accounts for their pets (also not allowed) just to have accounts to help them pass levels in games so the wouldn't have to bother their real friends with it.

So, I would think if someone created a fake account and never interacted with anyone, there would be no reason for FB to question it.

@Kachina624 ....the reason I have a FAKE account is because I did not want friends and others friending me...

@Kitty Galore ....Like you,  I am not on Facebook but I check in occasionally on some sites or people.   I have noticed the same problem/change recently.  I think this has happened before and after awhile it goes back to normal access. (Keyword...😉think)  So, I'm trying to be patient for awhile.  Then I'll check back in....if no access...oh well....nothing I can't live without.

Re: Facebook public page question

@Icegoddess I know for a fact I am the only one who knew and I didn't really care. But I did look at the fake page and he was interacting with others. I thought the whole idea was stupid.
