I don't have time right now to read the other posts......
And don't forget your pet birds and, of course, newborn babies and toddlers.
Very sensitive. Pets' and newborn humans' lungs and hearts are teeny-tiny.

...Please keep in mind that I'm not referring to Homeworks or Mr. Slatkin's products: I must say that his descriptions of each scent are wonderful.
On another note:
Many years ago, a realtor plugged 'plug-ins' type into an empty rental house.
The fumes were so strong that, as we walked by the house, we were coughing and coughing.
It seems to take 'forever' for that house to be rented. Months and months.
No wonder.

I use a mild scent device but have researched the scent and ingredients to be sure they are safe for my dog.

If a household isn't allergic to cinnamon, lemons, oranges, etc. (and I don't know if these ingredients would affect pets (especially birds) and newborns, etc.):
Simmer these ingredients in a crock pot.
Some people add cloves for a much stronger scent.
UPDATE: Actually, now thinking about it, one can use the orange and/or lemon PEELS instead of the entire fruit.
Also, thinking more: Maybe use a few drops of orange extract or lemon extract in a crockpot filled with water. Optional: Add cinnamon sticks and or cloves, depending on who or what is or isn't allergic to those ingredients.

I bought an air purifier this spring and use it everyday. Unfortunately it doesn't get rid of the harsh cooking odors

And I don't enjoy the fragrance of lilies. It always reminds me of funerals.
@occasionalrain wrote:At Easter, Lilies are everywhere, even on church alters. They're donated as a memorial to loved ones. Afterward, those who donated are given them to take home. No mention that they are poisonous to cats, not at church, not in stores.

@wagirl wrote:My cat got very, very sick from those plug ins. So sick that I was taking her to the vet everyday for IV treatments, blood drawn a few times for 5 days and the vet had no idea why. She wouldn't eat/drink, had a fever and was just a lump. FINALLY..... my DD just happen to run across an article on the internet about this very subject. I took that thing out of the wall, opened up the windows and slider to air it all out and within 2 days of doing that, she was back to her normal self. I spent over 5 hundred $$ in those 5 days. So no more of any of that junk. Threw all the scented candles I had, away too, which was fine, I didn't do lighted candles anyway. Was a truly scary thing.
I don't know why all these added scents in laundry detergents like Gain and dryer products aren't banned.....These things are so strong when a neighbor uses them you can smell them a block away....this cant be good for people with breathing conditions like asthma or allergies.....people are so concerned about the environment but its strange not a word is said about these items

For some dumb reason, unless freshly laundered clothing and sheets don't "smell", they think they aren't clean.
So, add CHEMICALS to your clothes. What could possibly go wrong with that?
It doesn't make any sense to me, either.
