I have been feeling a sense of peace and hopefulness while watching and listening to Francis. The speech this am was such a loving tribute and an affirmation of what America means to the world. We know it and so do our better angels.

The homilies he presented tonight at Vesper have given me a such hope for our country.

I understand what you are saying, and the response of so many Americans has been overwhelming.  Not only people who are RC, but people of other faiths who are taken by this Pope and lifted up by what he has said.

@Elvita i'm not sure where you want to go with this. can you narrow it down to what you are looking for so that we get going in the right direction?

It was an honest question because I don't understand the significance. I don't see how anything will change and things will proceed as usual after he is gone.

A journey starts with one step-- be the change and the first step.

@Elvita  take the attitude that things will be positive and i'm almost certain you won't be disappointed.

I have watched Pope Francis through out his visit to our country. I was moved by his humility, compassion. His visit thus far has caused me to do a reality check, a bit of soul searching. I was in tears watching this man,a true servant. Thanks to all of you that posted, they all moved me.

Thank you NoelSeven for starting this thread. Thank you JJM for posting his speech, just as powerful reading as hearing it,thank you.

My soul seeks an end to its suffering, much of it brought about by the suffering of those I love and the those who are least fortunate among us. This wish is so strong, that I want this man to have the ability to effect change here in this country and around the world. I think this wish and hope is so strong, that I threw them at his feet emotionally as his words resonated with my own hopes. This brought me to tears. That someone may be able to help, either by his words or by his words of prayer.

Karnerblue, you may want to google "pope living quarters" and take a look.  It's very basic furnishings.  Certainly my little living space has more opulence, and I am far from wealthy!

You seem very bothered by this visit.  I hope you find peace and resolution to whatever is bothering you.

He's not living in poverty though.  And you shouldn't make assumptions or judgements about me.
