Thanks for your suggestions, but I checked and tracking was updated around 8:30 last nite that it wasn't delivered due to emergency/weather conditions. Have had that notation before for other nonperishable items which equals another day of the chicken just sitting around in a hot truck. Before that I checked outside as you've mentioned sometimes drivers "hide" the package. The coyote population has flourished here and certainly did not want anything around the house that would attract them.
We have a transfer station, a/k/a dump in my town and employees kinda monitor what's dropped off. There's a bin for food-garbage items but that's to feed farm animals (corn cobs, etc.) No garbage is allowed! So, if this somehow gets delivered I will have to hope it doesn't smell so I can sneak it into the regular trash - don't want to harm the farm animals.
Imho, the whole thing has been a PITA and perishable items that are not in refrigeration should not be in shipping for days 'cause it's just not safe to consume. I've learned a valuable lesson when it comes to ordering food items anyway.

@eddyandme This sure has been a PITA. Here spoiled food would just go in the garbage dumpster. There's a separate dumpster for recycling (non food, it's for paper, bottles, that sort of thing) and an area where we can put hazzardous waste so it can be taken for proper disposal by the landlord. But there's no special container for food for animals. What a nice idea! Our garbage dumpster gets emptied twice a week by the city, so I doubt any food would get pulled out of it after it's picked up. With 30 apartments using it,there's always going to be something that's "ripe" by the time they pick it up.
While temperatures in the 80's are warm, I wouldn't think it would qualify as "emergency weather conditions." I could understand the drivers having to come back and get perishibles for different segments of their route so that items going to addresses later in the route could stay in an air-conditioned bulding. But once it shows "out for delivery" I would expect it to be delivered (unless something unforseen happened). Honestly, dry ice and insulated containers do provide adequate refrigeration. I've received many packages from Omaha Steaks and one of my neighbors actually splurged and ordered milkshakes, which traveled just fine.
The food itself usually seems very overpriced to me. Plus somewhere in the cost expedited shipping in special containers has to be covered. But overall it seems to work the vast majority of the time. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I do hope you'll update us regarding the condition if it does get delivered tomorrow. I'm totally curious now.

Recently I ordered Mama Mancini's thurkey meatballs. They finally arrived, loaded with what looked like freezer burn. I call CS and was told they would refund the money, to just donate the item to a shelter, etc. I would not even consider donating it to a shelter! If I wouldn't eat it I would not donate it. It came with return instructions and was going to return them but I told hime the sticker was not peel of and asked him if it would be best to ship it UPS and was told nnot to send them back. He acted angry.
Anyway, I was told they would refund my money but I have yet to receive it. The meatballs went to the garbage!
I ordered a delicious cocnut cake from QVC but I will never order meat again or maybe even any food!

Eddy's friend, the UPS man, came a few minutes ago! He often plays ball and/or gives Eddy cookies. So, I knew he was here!
Ran out and told him was refusing the package. We often talk as we've both lost furbabies not too long ago and he likes to see how much better Eddy's doing whenever he comes here.
So, I explained how long the chicken had been in transit so Eddy and I did not want to eat it. He couldn't believe the timeline. Jokingly said if you're brave it's yours; of course, his response was 'no way'! And he told me to make sure I get credited, which I said will do!
Now I'm a happy camper! (Don't have to try and dump that chicken.) But, I'm very disappointed that a company the size of QVC and ships all over the world, does not have a better timely shipping system, particularly for perishables. Agreed, their food is very expensive. It was gonna be a special treat for me and my furbaby to enjoy now and then. And aside from the costs associated for shipping, I believe there is so much waste in sales income due to transport delays (in this case) and not always truly representing the product (probably a year ago, purchased a shrimp product that was 1/4 the size as shown on the show, farmed and a product of Asia <which I kept in freezer and dumped it in th cold weather so its smell w/n give me away) that force prices higher and higher. Guess the only way to remedy the situation is to do it with our dollars. Many years ago the food was tasty and pretty reasonably priced. Oh well, that was then!
Hope I didn't bore you too much, @juperier, with my ranting!

qvc does not ship food products......the vendor ships them.

@eddyandme Nah,not bored at all. However, from the timeline you gave it sounds like its totally UPS's fault. If it was shipped on the afternoon of the 25th with 2-day delivery, it should have arrived by yesterday. Refusing the package was definitely the best solution. But, darn I'd love to know if the chicken was still ice cold, even if partially thawed.
I think I've only tried a couple of food items other than from Omaha Steaks. None of it was as good as I could either purchase locally or make myself. The items from Omaha Steaks actually ended up being somewhat reasonable after factoring in that the food appeared on my doorstep rather than me having to haul it home on the bus. They also have constant discounts and free shipping. And I ordered relatively inexpensive items.
Should we place bets on whether I'll receive the nail stamping plates I ordered from Canada. FedEx still shows today for delivery date. But there's no indicaiton they've reached the west coast yet (they should have been able to based on when they left Memphis; but not in time to get on the normal delivery truck). Shipping cost was $9.99 instead of $7.99 and provided tracking. Plus my experience is that FedEx clears customs quicker than USPS does. Obviously, no worries about spoilage. So no big deal to me if it's a day late. It will still be here earlier than with regular shipping.

@sunshine45, that's good to know. But, QVC chooses which vendor(s) and quality, pricing and transporting should be part of their negotiations when doing business 'cause that's what customers are concerned with - part of doing business.

@juperier, imho, you've got it - or will get it - a day late. Not bad!

re your comment about UPS and should have arrived yesterday
I believe you nailed it! I'm guessing they put it on the wrong truck - just a guess though!

yes, but unfortunately you did not even open it to see if it was perfectly fine or not. if it was perfectly fine and frozen then food just got totally wasted. i have never had a frozen food item come thawed before. i HAVE had problems with food shipments in other areas, but never a thawing problem. of course, qvc is always quick to give you your money back, no questions asked.
