FInally some help in blocking phone scammers may be on the way.

THe FCC has just voted to allow phone companies to block phone calls from numbers that are suspected to be calls from robo callers.  In the, past the FCC did not allow phone companies to,do this.  Now the decision is in the hands of the phone companies.

Hope it works better than no call list.  This will be great.

I will be thrilled if this works, but I fear the scammers will find a way to get around the rules.  It just seems too good to be true. It feels like I've been putting up with these annoyances for so long.

Considering the increasing number of these calls I am getting from my own phone number I'm ambivalent about the prospect of the phone company determining that my number needs to be blocked.

IT is not your phone number that would be blocked.  IT would be the robo callers number that would be blocked from completing calls.

This will probably be right up there with the Do Not Call List in effectiveness.  The scammers change phone numbers so often, who's going to keep track of them?

I just bought one of those call blocking devices.  It has been pure peace since we hooked it up!!! Money well spent!

1,  My comcast phone allows me to use *60 and block numbers.  My cell phone also has a symbol to block numbers.  I check them out first to make sure I am not blocking someone without an adequate caller ID.  (doctor or friend out of the area).
