Re: FIRST CLASS STAMP INCREASE AUG. 29

@Pearlee   Thanks for the heads up.  While I do pay most of my bills either via phone or online, some I still have to mail out.  For instance, with my lawnman I will just mail him a check.  Also, some places charge an extra fee for paying online so I just mail them out a check, too.  I don't pay with online banking nor do I have any automatic payments.  I prefer to see my bills first before I go ahead and pay it in case there is a discrepancy.

When I was younger I used to have a stamp collection.  Kind of a lost art now, I believe.  But I do buy my stamps at the post office to get the best selection of the different designs (as opposed to buying at book at the grocery store).  I still send out Christmas cards, although, that also seems to be another thing that seems to be fading away.  Just judging by the selection at the stores come Christmas time, I just don't see them stocking as many boxes of cards like they used to.

I also send out sympathy cards, get well cards, thank you notes, anniversary cards & of  course, birthday cards.  For friends and family far away that I don't get to visit with much, I make it a point to share in the various holidays/occasions with a card.  It's just a little thing to let them know I am thinking of them, whether it be Valentine's Day, Easter, Halloween or Thanksgiving.  I should have bought stock in Hallmark.  :-)

Re: FIRST CLASS STAMP INCREASE AUG. 29

I purchased a couple more sheets of Forever stamps last week while mailing a package. Had no idea an increase was coming, but would have expected it in December. Most of my bills are paid automatically by my bank, but I'm a huge supporter of our USPS and continue to send cards and letters to family and friends.

A stamp is the best deal around! And I applaud each carrier for their hard work and dedication 365 in our cold or hot weather driving those outdated little vehicles without much heat and no AC. Those men and women deserve much better working conditions!

Also, agree on needing a new Post Master Attorney General ASAP and an overhaul of the USPS system. Bring back our local canceling machines for efficient one-day service for starters, please.

I think the price for stamps is well worth the cost! .....I am not surprised at all, most everything these days has gone WAY WAY up!!! I can easily handle the 3 cent increase.

I get all my bills online, and all my bill paying is done online, but I do use stamps for Birthday cards, Christmas cards, Get Well Cards, and "I'm thinking of you" personal handwritten note cards

.....Cards sent snail mail are special because to me they show that someone took some extra time and effort to select and mail that special card whether they live in town or out of State.......Email cards are just another email to me...JMHO

Well, I don't like service companies having my CC number or checking account access, but I guess I'll be paying online shortly.

@Deree

An option for you would also be setting up all of your accounts online through your bank. You can either pay automatically or send the payments monthly on the dates that you choose.

Ridiculous. Price increase coupled with slooow delivery means sending no Christmas cards this year. Many of my cards, mailed Dec 1, reached destination 3-4 weeks after Christmas.

Tens of thousands of postal workers had COVID last year, and the postmaster general deliberately slowed things down.  This year should be much better!

@icezeus  Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't want anything "automatic" or on a set date.  What if my situation changes?  If I want to cancel service? (you know what kind of a mess that would be).  Moving?  Bottom line is... I just don't trust the service companies.  They'll hang on to every penny they can get.

I need to let my aunt know. She still writes out checks and then mails her bills. Sending some two weeks in advanced to make sure that they arrive on time. (What a pain) I have tried to get her to pay her bills online but NO Bueno.

Like most people I pay and receive my bills online. It's not surprising to me that the post office is loosing revenue for that reason alone.

I still occasionally will have to mail out something, so I always have a few of the Forever Stamps around.

@Deree I don't do automatic payments either but do pay online.  I get an email from my CC co., utility, cable, cell phone co that the bill is ready.  Then I just log in & pay the amount with my checking account.  You will have to set it all up first but after that it's easy.

I promise not to bug you about this anymore but I don't believe that I was clear in my original response. A better choice of words would have been I manually enter the date each month that I want a bill to be paid on.

For example let's say that my water bill is always due on the 25th of each month. I have to go in for the month of June and I choose the date that I want to pay that bill. If I do not enter the date nothing will be sent out.

As for your second concern, I recently changed my pest control company. All that I did was go into my banks system and deleted the Payee.

I know that we all have our own systems that work for us, but I just wanted to make sure that I gave you a clearer answer.
