In just the last few days, reports have confirmed breakthrough treatments for the deadliest strains of tuberculosis, and also newly effective treatments for Ebola!
Can't refer to articles due to objectionable sidebars, but more can be learned at the Associated Press, ScienceDaily NBC news, the New York Times, and Science.
Anthony Fauci announced that the successful Ebola treatments, which were experimental, will be made widely available to save patients' lives.
The new TB medication was just approved by the FDA on Wednesday. Older antibiotics had lost their efficacy with the worst TB strains, but combining this new pill with two familiar ones in a study, resulted in 90% cures of these resistant forms of the disease, within 6 months!
Such exciting progress, and hope for patients worldwide.

Yes, @Oznell , it is extremely exciting! It seems that in this day and age it is taking the cocktailing of several drugs to knock out these dreadful diseases........even some cancers. Thank God for people that have made this their life's work.

@Oznell Really good news.
Yes, TB has mutated so much that old treatments are no longer effective in many cases.
I hope someday they can develop an effective vaccine for Ebola and other hemorrhagic disease.
Thanks for posting!

Here’s the link to the National Institute of Health’s discussion of the preliminary results of the study that has found that two out of four Ebola treatments have been found to be effective. Dr. Fauci is the spokesperson for the study.
