just changed my 'AmazonSmile' charity
to the Noah's Animal House Foundation
Women leaving abusive situations come here because they can bring their pets
CNN.com updated 8:29 AM ET, Fri May 31, 2019
Staci Alonso knows first-hand the powerful bond that can exist between a woman and her pet.

Knowing there are places such as this which allows pets to be with women at a shelter is a hopeful uplifting story and I applaud Noah's Animal House Foundation.
Pets are therapeutic and help those who have disabilities both physical and mental, they give comfort, companionship and unconditional love. It certainly makes sense that abused women would welcome being with their pets. I understand it isn't always easy to do this in many shelters but if it can happen, pets should be with these women . Battered women, physically and emotionally are stressed, undergoing pain in so many ways, if the pets can bring some peace of mind, I am all for it.

There's strength and love in Pet Power. @feline groovy Thanks for the inspiring article. This situation could help determine if a woman will leave an abusive relationship, where perhaps the only acceptance and unconditional love has been that of her precious pet. Worthy cause.

I’ve been thinking about how ravaged sufferers of domestic abuse must suffer when separated from the only source of love they’ve known while living in a traumatic relationship. There would also be the concern that a defenseless non-human ally might be victimized if a human ally abruptly departed.
Thank you for this post.

Thank you for this info. I changed my Amazon smile charity!

My Amazon Smile charity is GREY MUZZLE, which helps senior dogs all over the country with orthopedic beds in shelters, much needed surgery, hospice, and their families when necessary. It's an AMAZING organization. I won't change that, but after reading your post, I will add this charity to my list and donate. Thank you.

@feline groovy ...Thank you for informing us of this wonderful organization to help those who have felt entrapped in domestic abuse situations...Let us not forget that domestic abuse not only includes physical abuse but also emotional and verbal abuse of which the bruises are invisible but the consequences are just as traumatic...All three are entwined together.
The victims of domestic abuse often have only their pets for solace, comfort and love and to leave their pets with the very person who is capable of such intolerable and disturbing behavior is often not even a possibility for them...Their pets have also been victims even if they themselves haven't been the targets...They were still suffering along with their loved ones!
Bravo to Staci Alonso!

If I may also mention, your emergency room and local shelter are often in need of clothing. At my hospital the clothing was damaged or taken as evidence and staff often sent out appeals to employees.
