Re: Everyone Please be Careful Out There!

[ Edited ]

Where I am, running red lights seems to be the favorite pass time - also stop signs.

On top of that, you have people pulling into the left lane and slowing down, those that ride the left lane doing well below the speed limit until their left turn comes and of course, the tourists that have no clue and think they left the country when driving. They do a dead stop on the highway to check directions - how about pulling into a parking lot or off to the side of the road.

Glad everyone is okay.

And, its not just younger people on their phones or driving poorly, it plenty of middle age people as well, especially on their phones.

People are driving like nuts on our little country road. I check both ways when going out to get the mail in the box....cars going by at insane speeds could blow me right off the road. Out of control drivers.

Re: Everyone Please be Careful Out There!

Thank you to all for your responses!

It's at least reassuring to know there are still lots of good drivers out there. And posting and hearing about your experiences helped me calm down too! Just sharing those fears you know and reminding ourselves of good tips, including the ones about don't interact-crazy world out there.

I try to be patient, courteous, and always thank the thoughtful drivers who let you in, then I pay it forward.

My father said a good driver never makes his passengers nervous or uncomfortable. I think that is so true.

@on the bay, so very scary. You must be so relieved that your son-in-law is okay.

Re: Everyone Please be Careful Out There!

My small family all live in Westchester County, New York.  My 27-year-old niece was driving to her sister's house and apparently another driver thought she cut him off.  After she exited, he followed her.  When she parked, he came out of his car and started to bang on her window.  She was frightened to death.  She sat in her car and refused to open her window.  She was about to call the police when he left.

We have road rage incidents now constantly all over New York.  Truly scary.

This year there's more whitelining motorcyclists than I've ever seen. I think about changing lanes and suddenly there's a motorcycle two feet from my window.

A very good reminder to all who drive motor vehicles on public streets and roadways. Seems like very few in this era take driving from A to B seriously. Yak with a passenger while looking at them in the eyes.

Then come the ever necessary cell phone addicts. Can't put their cell phones down for even a minute. Get a text, gotta get that sent back.

Anyone that drives a vehicle on public roads should have 100% of their attention on driving. Not chit chatting with passengers or getting "down with the music ". Anything less multiply the dangers.

It ticks me off when I hear "this accident killed" whomever. Most of them I DO NOT consider to be an ACCIDENT. Call them a wreck, or my preference, "an on purpose".

Drive under any influence/cell phones/yak yak, I could list more, are what causes wrecks that kill and injure people. Anyone that they can "multitask" when driving is an idiot, and has no business driving on public roads.

Until then, drive like your life, and others, depend on it. It does!

Re: Everyone Please be Careful Out There!

Just today a guy passed me on a road in a no passing zone.  I was doing the speed limit.  This guy was going about 65-70.  I hope he got stopped but a cop is never around when these things happen

Thanks for the great advice but I've been thinking about your choice of words,  you mention daughter then her "husband", isn't that your son in law?
