Re: Ever tried to lose weight with GOLO?

I've tried all kinds of things to help lose weight.  I finally lost 80 pounds when I changed my diet....more fiber, lots of good proteins, lower bad carbs, more veggies, more fruit.  My only supplements are magnesium, B12, Omega 3, and Premier Protein shakes (chocolate is my fav) as it's low carb, low sugar and full of vitamins/minerals.

I found I need 130g good carbs and 40-45g good fats every day before I can lose weight.  I always skipped the fats before but found I lose a lot more faster if I keep the good fats at 40-45g per day.  We all need carbs to stay warm/cool, brain function, etc etc.  Just try to get better carbs than junk carbs.

I never deny myself anything but I eat less of it.  I also take a minute to think about whether or not I really want it.  Sometimes I do, lots of times I don't.

Re: Ever tried to lose weight with GOLO?

I would question any doctor who asked me to give up

carbohydrates which fuel our bodies.

Doctors only receive 20-30 educational hours on nutrition....

20-30hr throughout their entire med school career.

If a heart surgeon only received 20-30 hrs on how to do

heart surgery, they probably wouldn’t be very good.

But these doctors are quick to offer food advice to their

patients on a subject they know very little about.

And nutrition is the foundation of good health.

If one is eating 50% carbohydrates, the math says remaining

ratios w/ 25% Protein & 25% Fat....both which are too high &

can cause many problems down the road.

I know a doctor who has an undergraduate degree in nutritional biochemistry.  There are doctors who have more training than what you suggest and medical schools that provide more.  D.O. programs in this area especially provide quite a bit more training in the area of nutrition than what you suggest.

[ Edited ]

It’s amazing after all this training, they still get it wrong.

Human Bodies are Human Bodies. It’s pretty basic.

But at the end of the day, there are no $$$ in advising a patient

to get healthy, so...we have to do our own nutritional

education...and how not to rely on doctors’ medications.

And returning to the OP, a supplement is not needed

for weight loss. And cutting carbohydrates & increasing

fat/protein is not the way, either.

@sidsmom What a shame that you don't have any good doctors in your area.  Your description does not match the character and work ethic of the doctors I know, nor the ones I know who are training future doctors.  The ones I know aren't putting $$$ as the priority--their focus is the patient, and they advocate healthy lifestyles and avoid medications when possible.  Shame you aren't able to see the good.

I have seen GOLO advertized and gone to the web site.  I know nothing about this method and no one who has used this method.  Wondering if anyone here knows anything?  TIA

GOLO has berberine included in the ingredients. Check it out on WebMD. It can lower cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure. It also holds promise for people in heart failure.

There are some drug interactions and it is not for pregnant women. Like ALL supplements, check with your own physician who knows your health history and any interactions taking berberine may cause.
