One of my cats makes a similar sound like that. It's only when he's by himself and usually while he's either walking down the hall or in the bathroom. Every time I come up on him while he's doing that, he stops. At first I thought he was in pain. Now I've decided that it's just him singing.

OMGosh.......yes, my little Mr. Lucky barks when he is in the living room window and sees the birds in the tree out there......It is so funny. I was just telling my sister about this the other day. And it really does sound like a bark.

Two of my female cats do the same thing. They get excited when they see birds outside. They'll sit by the patio door & make these cute high pitched "eh eh" sounds that sound like a little dog barking. If you make the sound back to them, they'll "talk" back to you.

It's a riot when he does it. Mr. Lucky is mostly Siamese and they are known to be very vocal. What are your cats?????

I don't believe I have, but my bird barks.

{#emotions_dlg.laugh} I believe it. Mine did the same thing too.

Disco the parakeet barking like a dog (he starts doing it at the 0:55 mark of the video):

Squeakers (muted tortoiseshell) is a pretty cat, Streaker(torbie) is an exotic looking little beauty with green eyes. They're both tiny little girls,5-6 lbs at the most. I have a 3rd female, Tippy, who looks like mommy (Squeakers) but she doesn't make the cute noises mom & sister do when she gets excited, she just meows at you.

yes, mine bark and growl. The growl sounds just like a dog's growl. Mostly when the doorbell rings and they take off for their hiding places.

They chirp at the birds outside or at a bug on the window outside.

when they want some attention they gurgle or make that eh eh sound.

My black cat has an old bedraggled toy that she brings to bed every night. If I am staying up too late, she brings it to me in the living room and makes that hunting yowl until I thank her for my gift and tell her how good she is.

I am constantly amazed at the varied vocabulary cats have.
