I seriously doubt that's the situation considering how it works in nature. Wonder if the other female was a non-pride member?

I saw somewhere that the female lions do all the hunting. The male has several females in his "pride", really a sort of harem. Could have been an outsider being attacked.

The article states that this lioness was attacking HER MATE, not an outsider male.
