Re: Eve, Sloaney and Kitten Cams

@Witchy Woman @Yahooey ...Yes, I sure do remember precious Skye...She had to be rushed to the Vet for a Caesarian and we were clutching our pearls to their limit...at least I was!...lol...If I recall correctly, she also was found to have a heart condition.

She was adpopted into the bestest most loving home...such a sweetheart and among the many amazing examples of the resilience and endurance of these magnificent rescues by TK!...My heart is filled with so much love for all of them!

I read in chat that, when Thor goes in for his neuter, they will be able to check out his eyes more thoroughly and determine what will be the best care and procedure for him.

I was so happy to see this morning that Nyla & Thor are now out of the large crate and have access to the entire room...I went back in the timeline and saw Thor watching Nyla and following her a little...so sweet as it appeared he was using her as his seeing eye cat and doing quite well getting adjusted...If I recall correctly, they have determined that he does respond to shadows and light.  Heart

"Unka Dave" is such a wonderful asset to TK...It is great that the rescues also have a male "hooman" to relate to and they seem to gravitate to him so very well....so caring and gentle! Cat Happy

These forums have been a challenge within the past couple of days and I'm having a difficult time getting into threads and being able to post, so I hope that this goes through this morning.

Wishing Everyone A Great Weekend!...We were spoiled this past week with temps in the 40's and they will now be going back to normal...in the teens and 20's...We are headed down to the shore area on Sunday with another couple to enjoy...We are tough Nor'Easterners or so we think!...lol... Cat LOL

@MyShadowLove

I laughed when I read "Unka Dave."  He sure is a gift to TK.

TK seems to attract the best!

I hope Thor can overcome whatever issues there are.  He seems a loving boy.  There's someone out there that wants him I know....because I would take him in a minute if circumstances were different.

Yes, the QVC boards have been a pain lately, but I am seeing posts, so....

I'm going to check into TK in a bit to catch up!

Waving to everyone!!

Hope everyone is doing well.  I am currently pet sitting my friend's Pug dog for a few days.  What a funny little guy he is.  Despite gifting him several beds for home, my friend forgot to bring one along when he dropped him off.  So, I made a trip to buy a small, inexpensie bed.

Put it down and left to do something.  I came back and he was panting like mad.  I watched him for a bit and it seems he was wrestling with the thing.  Grabbing it with his teeth and shaking it until he fell over!

What in the world?

I removed the bed immediately.  Who knows what the problem was, but he'll sleep on the rugs for now.  I just had to laugh.  Either he was entertaining himself, or the bed somehow offended him.

Anyway, wanted to post this update from the TK Facebook page:

About 14 hours from now, Cassidy the #MiracleKitten will be departing on a BIG adventure to see a new specialist about his stumps! 🙀
He will of course be travelling with his full entourage, including his Emotional/Wrestling Support Auracuda, to make his journey as comfortable as possible. As you can see, they've been helping each other test out travel harnesses... 😂
Cassidy was born in a feral colony and lost both back legs below the knee shortly after birth. He somehow managed to survive the next nine weeks in the forest until help arrived. He shouldn't be alive today, but he refused to give up.
Watch his story, and you'll fall in love: https://www.youtube.com/watch…
For two years, we worked SO hard to figure out a way to restore the mobility he lost and minimize any future pain or mobility issues. Eventually, we ran out of options and felt pretty discouraged. We never stopped researching, followed other cats who got cutting-edge prosthetics and implants, and reached out to as many people as possible who might have ideas to address his unique challenges.
This week, we will be exploring whether any new options may be available to help him have the very best long term quality of life possible. Cassidy is scoring pretty high on the quality of life scale so far, and we want to do everything in our power to keep it that way!
Because pain is a huge factor in quality of life, we need to make sure we have an accurate understanding of his current pain range due to his hips subluxating (and anything else they may identify as an issue) and how any pain may progress as he gets older. We hope to learn whether hip replacement might be an option to eliminate pain while allowing him to retain his hip function long term.
Mobility is also a primary factor in assessing quality of life, so we will be talking about osseointegrated implants or anything new that may help him be able to walk on his stumps.
I don't know if any of these things will be possible or prudent for him, but I am thrilled to have the opportunity to find out, and to make sure we are doing absolutely everything to give him his best possible life. <3
P.S. We will post updates along the way on TinyTuxies and Auracuda

Re: Eve, Sloaney and Kitten Cams

thank you @Witchy Woman for the update on your great adventure on pug sitting - guess just as people have a preference on mattresses - so do doggies

awww Puff Puff has to bring his support animal Mini Puff

I do hope there is something that can be done to help his pain or minimize his pain in the future

I miss watching them both along with our Grandpaw - those were some special days we watched with bated breathe and al lot of pearl clutching

@Witchy Woman ...Thanks so much for the exciting update on Cassidy!...When I saw your post, I rushed right over to TinyTuxies to check for any further news and a couple of videos have already been posted and they have arrived at their destination...How sweet that his special buddy, Auracuda, has taken the trip with him to provide support and comfort...They are so adorable together!...It will be interesting to see how everything works out!

And, oh my gosh, I got such a kick out of your story about your special little houseguest....It sounds like you are going to have your hands full with that precious little Pug dog and what fun it will be!...Did you really think that you could get away with just any kind of bed?...I have a feeling that he may just end up making his way up onto your bed!...LOL

How about Artemis?...Is he okay with a dog around?...I was just wondering how he reacts when he sees you out walking with your houseguest?

@Yahooey ...I also miss the early days when Shelly first started with her dream and how we all were filled with such anticipation and excitement...clutching our pearls!!!...It was absolutely amazing to witness Shelly trying so hard to bring the "Happy Forest" atmosphere into her basement hoping to make it more comforting for her rescued ferals...dragging in branches, dirt, etc...and our first feral love, Sloaney, and Shelly's pizza box shield!!!!...LOL...Oh the memories! Cat LOL

It's been quite a journey and it is so wonderful to see Shelly's dream becoming such an amazing success! Heart

Re: Eve, Sloaney and Kitten Cams

@MyShadowLove

As much as I like the little Pug dog, I will be happy when he returns home.  I know he misses his partner and seems a bit depressed to me -- staying in his crate most of the time (door is open), and not eating well.  He's not much on "playing" and sleeps most of the time.

Since no one is in our cottage at he moment, he is staying there.  I could NOT bring him in the house.  Arty has decided he wanted to return to his old habits and suddenly walked into the house and has no interest in his cozy place in the garage.  Puzzling, because it's been at least 6 months he would NOT come inside.  There is no understanding cat logic Cat LOL

He also smells the doggie I know, and is not happy about it. I think he caught a glimpse of the Pug when I let him out on the patio and that was enough to set off all his alarms...so the smell is just an extra offense Cat LOL

I just live to serve them Cat Happy

And, an update from TK:

Cassidy the #MiracleKitten is feeling very relaxed after his big day today! He saw the amazing Dr. Bergh and team at Edinger Surgical Options about his back legs, which are both missing below the knees.
We were thrilled that Dr. Bergh was able to perform a minimally invasive procedure to inject Platelet Rich Plasma into both hip joints. We are very hopeful this will increase his comfort and mobility for up to a year at a time, and it can be repeated as often as necessary. This gives us a chance to start a new physical therapy regimen focused on building muscle in a controlled fashion, which Dr. Bergh believes is our best shot at giving Cassidy the best possible long-term quality of life. ⁣

We do have surgical options in the future when we are no longer able to manage his comfort and mobility with less invasive therapies. Because he is doing so well at this point, we all agreed it is in his best interest to hold off on more invasive/risky surgeries as long as possible. ⁣
I’m extremely relieved to have confirmation that he is not suffering, and that he is actually doing much better than his hip rads would suggest… and that I don’t have to make any irreversible decisions about complicated surgeries just yet. Whew. ⁣

We should start seeing an improvement from this round of injections within two weeks, and have located a veterinary physical therapy specialist back in BC who we will be contacting to see if they can help us create a daily massage and physio program.⁣

We are so grateful to our #TinyVillage for all the support and well-wishes for our big adventure. It’s amazing to know how many people share our love for this “worthless” “lost cause” little #bipawd feral cat. <3 ⁣

Special thanks to the Auracuda and snuggler Dave, and to the home team who held down the fort (and only brought in ONE new special-needs partially paralyzed cryptorchid feral kitten in our absence)
