FYI:  Equifax updated its list of accounts that may have been breached by the hack.  New accounts were added to the list as of Oct. 8.  So, if you checked on their website before Oct. 8 to see if you were affected and were told "no," you need to check again now.

The news yesterday said they may have been hacked of 10 million drivers license numbers  also.  I have no faith in these people.

Since they got a IRS contract this week this is even more troubling.

@esmeraldagooch. I agree about the IRS contract!  Insane!!!!!  Equifax should be shut down IMHO.

The IRS contract has been suspended indefinitely. Equifax will not be “rewarded” for their negligence.

@gizmogal. Good to know about the IRS contract suspension, though I wish it had been cancelled, rather than just suspended.  Thanks for the link.

To add insult to injury, I've signed up for every "protection" they've offered, and had none of the promised replies!

Every time I call they tell me their servers are "very, very busy", I just bet they are.

If their fire walls were as bad as their service no wonder they were hacked.

At any rate I've frozen my accounts.

@sunshine45, I didn't want to give them 6 of 9 digits of my social security number. When you activate a new credit card, they only ask for 4. I was very uneasy, so I didn't do it.

I wouldn't want to enter anything into the equifax website, to find out if I had been hacked.

I froze all 3 of them instead.

If you don't need to open any credit anytime soon, that made sense to me.

I wouldn't trust entering anything into a company that has already been hacked! (except to freeze credit which can be done by an automated phone call).
