I can't believe that people actually think that this story is true.

Actually @Anonymous032819 , the fact that anyone is commenting like the story is true is more disturbing to me than the story itself...

I agree.   Why are people so gullible?

If I was the Manager I would have told her she's behaving irrationally and acting in a threatening manner to an employee, then I would have called store security and have her escorted out and told her she was banned from the store....I wouldn't care if I lost her business....let her and her "dear little child" be someone else's headache!!!

ITA .... that woman should have been thrown out of the store.   She really needs a serious wake up call.  That kid will end up in jail.

When people talk about "not shopping or buying or taking business" that is such a little amout of $$ in the scheme of things. When I said I would not shop at a certain store I meant it as a way to calm myself down.

From reading other people's posts that don't think this was a real situation, trust me I totally believe it.  If you have never worked in retail, you're lucky.  There really are people like that out there and it's very sad.

Yes, I have worked in retail. And yes there are definitely people that act like that. I encountered quite a few.

In fact I still get together with friends that I began working with in retail 25 years ago. None of us currently work in retail and we would never work in retail again.

@Tinkrbl44, several astute posters have listed the red flags.

From the stories a relative that worked many years in retail as a Department Manager/Store Manager/District Manager told us....this story IS feasible......

I would sooner believe an anonymous Reddit Sub-Forum AMA,

which is notoriously famous for reporting OMG experiences

for all sorts of real-life situations,

than I would a dedicated link which feeds off of website traffic.

Clickbait IS a thing.

Sounds like this whole website is clickbait.

If after all this, one still believes this is real.....

And this thread is probably giving the site more traffic than they've had all month! Which would be exactly why they would write something like that--to get a reaction somewhere, anywhere, from someone, anyone.

It's exactly the kind of Internet noise people like to post as truth on social media to get attention, which they then use to back up some obscure and sweeping negative generalization about society.
