Language is just like that---and has always been that way. Certain words become popular and then, over time, other words become more popular. This is not new. No need to become upset over words that are currently popular at any given point in time.

@Goldengate8361 , Words being " popular" and words used incorrectly are two different things. It's never a good idea to tell people how to feel. Do you like people telling you not to be upset ?

Yes.

After a while, repetitive anything becomes annoying.  Not only on QVC.

It's a free country and I'll get hot and bothered over sloppy usage of language if I so wish. Just like you're free to ding me needlessly, like a persnickity old lady if you so wish (I'm in a blood-drinking mood today Woman Mad).

Wow. Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed?  This post is worse than any responses I've seen.

Good grief. It's a word. A word. It's not going to change your life. If a word can upset someone, they need to rethink their priorities.

My dad had PhDs in English and History. He always said not to criticize others because many do not have the same opportunities or aptitude, and use/pronunciation of of words vary all across the country.
