This more contagious covid mutation has now been identified in Colorado, California, New York and Florida. January is going to be very bad in the US. Now is the time for all of us to be very vigilant. Get the vaccine as soon as you are eligible in addition to all the other preventative measures we know to use.

Not just England.  Scotland too.  They are on "total" lockdown till the end of January.  No one can leave their house unless absolutely necessary.  I would thing Wales too.  Wales is on level 4.  Level 5 is total shut down

@suzyQ3  It's not new news that people who work and inadvertenly get sick are giving it to their family as well as teens that they can't control. Families who live in small homes who can't isolate the sick have it pretty bad

Those essential workers can indeed infect their household. But those who are vigilent can take steps to reduce that possibility. As for teens, it might be how well the family together understands the consequences. My teen grandchildren are a good example.

In any case, none of this a viable argument against a lockdown in an emergency situation.

Speaking of strains, the South Africa chain is of even more a worry because it is more distances from the normal strains that the British one. So there is concern regarding how well the vaccines will work.

@suzyQ3  Be that as it may, there are thousands of families who live in buildings that are connected by only 1 elevator and a staircase on each end.  The halls etc and the a/c system all questionable...not everyone lives in a single family dwelling with a minimum of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as a basement.

What does that have to do with a lockdown? If they live in an apartment building, the lockdown just means they're a bit less likely to bring home the virus to their families or other families on the lifts etc. If there were no lockdown, they would still be living in that building you claim is inadequate. They'd just be able to go out to bars as well.

It is reported that this is due to the hospitals being at capacity.  You can set up tents but you can't hatch medical personnel.  

We are seeing hospitals being near full here too.  

Think about what you have done to stop the spread.  Travel?  Visits?  Not masking?  Lots of in person shopping?  Hair or gym?
