Re: Emailing Others... is it old school

One of these days texting will seem "old school". Wonder what we'll be using then?

It is already "old school." Kids prefer Snapchat and Instagram...Vine too.

Apparently...Emailing, or talking on the phone is out.

I just love when we out to a restaurant, and the family sitting next to us ... are all texting on their phones (parents included.)   Not a word is spoken to each other throughout the meal.

Better yet, I call my friends and leave a message. I will always get a text back.

I am not feeling the love anymore  ... except from my dogs and DHHeart lol!

Re: Emailing Others... is it old school

I can see using social media with friends but to ignore a grandparent or insist that the only way to communicate with them is social media is just plain rude and uncaring.  I would tell them the phone is my preferred method of communication and those grandchildren and children  would get no more presents or favors from me if they acted that way!! There is way too much communication this way and it's so much easier to not have to make time for parents and grandparents this way!!

My preference is still e-mail.  I will only text if Ihave a short sentence or thought to send to someone.  I don't have a smartphone and don't even know what snapchat is!

I guess it's personal preferences!

I get frustrated when someone wants to use texting to communicate long or complicated information.  If it takes more than a text or 2 to get the information shared, then I see that as needing a phone call or e-mail.

Same with twitter which has a character limit and snapchat which is for sharing pictures.  I find snapchat to be the most tedious app, at least on my phone. It doesn't want to open half the time.

With your granddaughter texting to her mom upstairs, I guess it saves shouting right?

This made me LOL. I always notice the younger people I am friends with on FB put up these memes about people who call instead of text. Seems they really hate it. I don't get that and I am a texter too but sometimes it is just easier to call especially if it is a longer more complicated text, I just don't feel like doing it.

Seems they really dread getting a call instead of a text. I think that is kind of scary and says a little bit about their social skills in some ways.

Here is one of the memes I was talking about.

I have one friend that uses email to keep in touch.  My family texts or uses messenter or chat on FB.

I only email them if I need to send an attachment (copy or picture).   If I do this I will also text, "check email."
