I wish CBS could have signed John Oliver before he agreed to host a show on HBO.

Re: Ellen should replace David Letterman

I love Ellen and have loved her since her stand-up days, but I do not know that she would be the right fit. I think it is going to be difficult to find someone.

Ooh, he would have been good. I didn't know he has a show on HBO.

Neil Patrick Harris is turning up at the top of many speculative lists on who will take over for David Letterman when he retires next year.

Just an update from RadarO

Would he be a good choice, Preds? I don't see him on shows much.

I've seen him do a lot of stuff, but I really don't know if he would be "quick enough". I would like to see him get a chance because he seems to have a great sense of timing and humor and is very smart. I adore Ellen, but I don't know if she would work or not. I think she has a great thing going now and she doesn't need to take that wild hair and run with it. But, she might .... never know what she might do.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Yeah, replace him with re-runs of Perry Mason, Ironside and Murder, She Wrote...

Then it could be just like daytime TV.

Re: Ellen should replace David Letterman

Loved Johnny and Jay, but never was a David fan. I supposed they will have a lot of guest hosts over the next year.

There are a lot of people who I can think of who would be great in a talk show format, but they don't have the comedic part that usually goes along with late-night tv.

I bet Ellen would be great. I am sure she has to restrain herself for daytime tv, but at night, she can really let go. I don't watch any of those shows, all the same as far as I am concerned, but would definitely tune in for Ellen, at least to see how the show was.

I would prefer that they replace the show with some good late night movies, or sit-coms.

Re: Ellen should replace David Letterman

I'm not really a Ellen fan, so I don't think she would be good in this format.

Don't get me wrong, I like her as a person. Just not a fan of her show.

But who knows. Maybe she would be good in this role. We shall see. There is a year to go yet....

I was just on one of the Entertainment threads, and I saw NPH mentioned.

Hmm..what do we think about him? I think he might be good...
