When it's over, can't be too soon, will the feeling of something missing replace them?

I'm thinking we should vote for the candidates who have bothered us the least, the ones with the fewest tv ads, robo calls, and emails. After all they would owe fewer favors to contributors.

Anyone onboard?

I'm onboard. I think your logic makes sense. They wouldn't be in anyone's pockets.

I haven't gotten emails.

Getting lots in the mail and phone calls.

Speaking of emails - (ugh, I think I'm going to hurl!!) - I just got one that said it was from Allen West. What the heck?? Of course, I didn't open it but I still feel like my computer might need a Silkwood shower.

Works for me. That should mean no one backed by the K. Brothers will be elected!

My mailman was complaining about all the junk mail he has to deliver. Such a waste!!!! Money can be better spent.

Re: Election ads, email, phonecalls

I don't think the Founding Fathers planned on people staying in Congress for 2, 3, or even 4 decades. Nor did they plan on their families, friends and loved ones . . . to also have decades long careers as a result of their "service" to the country in our Capitol. Nor did they intend them to become multi-millionaires with the knowledge and consequences of their legislation, insider knowledge OR special interest spending of OUR as in WE THE PEOPLE's MONEY!!!

I'm for term limits. This would STOP the never ever ending campaigning. I swear they will begin the next campaign on Nov. 5th . . . at least in the House . . . but for the next 1/3 of the Senate due up for re-election . . . it will begin Nov. 5th.

Yes, some say we have term limits . . . as in the voters can vote them out . . . but incumbency is a powerful tool/weapon . . . and is very difficult for the voters to overcome.

Just look how shocked and awed they were when Cantor was beat during his primary challenge? That is all they talked about on the news for days following. Regardless that there were other races across the country . . . it garnered the greatest percentage of followup and coverage nationwide . . . not just in Virginia.

While our system is the BEST in the World . . . I am sick of those currently in power for the past 50 or more years it seems and how they have b*stardized the entire "political class" in this country.

Re: Election ads, email, phonecalls

We only get snail mail from candidates. No phone calls, no emails, no visits at the door. (thankfully because Im tired of all the bashing ads on tv!).

It doesn't matter anyway, I vote one party and only one party since the day I could vote and will continue to do so as long as I live. And so does my husband! (coincidently the same party as me, so no political arguing in this house..lol).

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make~ The Beatles

Interesting. I've never voted a straight ticket.

Re: Election ads, email, phonecalls

You know what replaces the political ads on tv once the election is over....?

"Every Kiss Begins with K" (Kay Jewelers) ads

Black Friday ads from Target with the blonde lady

and

Car ads with BIG red bows on them, because they make great stocking stuffers- I guess.
