Ekobrew vs. Solofill: suggestions for improving quality needed

...So far, I'm not impressed with the Ekobrew. I thought I could use my regular Folger's, fill and make coffee: it's coming out more like colored water and very weak.

I bought some whole coffee beans yesterday thinking it might be a good idea to grind my own, but I have no idea what size of grind I'm looking for. I'm going to try googling pictures of coffee grinds-that ought to be interesting.

I really don't like the My K-cup because I hate removing the holder, reinstalling it if I want to use a k-cup and the results are not all that great.

So, are these Solofill cups any better? Any suggestions?
