Edit of topic help

I know how to edit a message that I leave.  However when I start a new topic I have sometimes not gotten it quite right.  Perhaps I have a spelling error or left out a word.  How does not edit the topic at the very top.  Is it even possible?

Edit of topic at the very top.  Topic post... If I wrote  etit of topick hulp instead how would I change THAT.

There are 3 dots in the upper right corner of the reply box.  Hit that. 

 

Hit "edit reply" and you can edit your post.

Yes the post gets edited but I cannot fix the title.  What am I doing wrong?
