I got my rebate check today and enclosed was a note:  "We're changing our name to Rakuten.  Cash Back and all the things you love about Ebates are staying the same."

Rakuten?   What the heck... I can tell now, I'm always going to be calling it Ebates.

It has been Rakuten for a while now, Japanese name.

There have been a lot of commercials on tv about the name change.

They set up machines on the streets of some cities and if you pronounced the name right into the machines it dispensed $$$$!

I looked all over my city for a machine, but I couldn't find one, darn it, LOL!

Ebates is a catchy name. The new one is not.

That 15% and 20% they’ve had recently has been great. I also have three referrals. My check is coming this week.  The NEXT one is going to be a good one.

yes, the name change happened a few months ago.

rakuten acquired ebates in 2014 for a billion dollars. rakuten is a company that has been around since 1997.

@Equuleus on my laptop it still reads EBATES.

I noticed my last statement from my Ebates credit card said Ebates a Rakuten Company. I wondered about the commercials since I was seeing both Ebates commercials and Rakuten commercials. I like the name Ebates better.  When I went to the website, it said Ebates is now Rakuten and it redirected me to the new site.
