Can someone confirm how EasyPay and QCard work? If you purchase something using EasyPay and use your QCard as the payment method could you prolong the eventual payoff of the amount charged?
Example, you purchase four items each costing $100 over the 4 month EasyPay. So thats $25 each month per item (total $100) being charged to your QCard. Looking at the QCard payment disclousre the minimum payment is $25 a month.
I ask these questions as my mother has now changed from charging her debit card for each EasyPay payment to charging the QCard. I am concerned that instead of her paying the $100 that would have come out of her bank account (debit card) each month that she now will only be paying the minimum QCard payment.
Please ignore any special promotions that QCard may offer. She is a regular shopper and normally chooses the 3, 4, 5, or 6 payment option.

If she only pays $25 per month, but the total owed is $100, the left over $75 will be owed next month plus the interest.
So next month she will owe $75+interest, plus the next $100, so say it's $180. If she only pays the minimum (say it's $30), she'll owe $150+interest plus the next $100.
And so on.
The interest will not be charged on that month's charges, but only only on the left over charges from the previous month.
Hope this makes sense.

@Bob-79, the Q card works like any other credit card--if there is an unpaid balance then interest accrues on the unpaid amount.
In your example if the card is charged $100 a month ($25 for each easy pay) and your mom only pays the minimum the balance will accrue interest and the next month another $100 will be added to the balance owed.
Using your example of a $100 opening balance less the $25 minimum payment left a balance due of $75 (plus interest) to which $100 for easy pay #2 will be added. The minimum payment on the $175+ balance owed may increase and if your mom once again only makes the minimum payment interest will be charged on the remaining balance and when the next easy pay is added the minimum payment will likely increase.

I pay whatever the monthly statement says. No interest that way and on!y billed for that months easy pay that is due. Seems to take forever to get those things paid off.
I go in and make sure everything is posted correctly.

Thank you both for responding. That is what I thought and that is my concern. Knowing her she will only pay the mimimum and keep adding additional EasyPay purchases each month.
I know she has a shopping problem. The QCard is now only going to make matters worse.

@Bob-79 Thanks for caring about your mom. Therer are agencies who can counsel her about spending and budgeting, if you think that's feasible.

@Bob-79 Your mom is also loosing her points, which add up on a VISA or MC. Mine are 3% on each dollar spent on on-line shopping - which I save until I have about $100 and then add it to my monthly payment (which I always pay in full).
The Q-card had one of the highest rates of interest around. If she's only paying the minimum balance, she'll be in financial trouble quickly. Please help her close that account, pay it off and seek help for her impulsive buying.
Thanks for caring enough to ask.

Thank you both for your concerns. I have been down this road with her before. A few years back I took her credit card away that she was using for QVC purchases and paid it off. She promised to only buy what she could afford and pay in full. Then she figured out the EasyPay option. Now she has figured out to charge the EasyPay amount to the QCard.
I know she needs help (I can handle the budgeting, I am an accountant) but she refuses to get help for her shopping addicition.
