We’re fine @Drythe! We live on O’ahu. Kilauea is on the Big Island (Hawai’i Island). I’m not sure what Island our other HI WEN girls live on, though. @AlohaSun...are you okay?

@SurferWife

Oh, Thank Goodness!

I was worried about you, Mr. Surfer, and Master Toby!

Thanks for checking in.

Re: Earthquakes/Eruption of Kilauea

@quadmimi @SurferWife  and to everyone, I'm just fine over here.  I live in

Hilo, which is pretty far from the eruption site.  The two largest earthquakes

weren't that bad in my home, just my chandelier was swinging a bit.  When the

5.9 quake hit, I was at a restaurant with a friend and it felt like a rolling type

of movement, restaurant was fine no damages.  Then I got home around 12:15

then at around 12:30 the larger one hit.  There were quite a bit of damages

but no homes or buildings collapsing.  This eruption is so different from others

that instead of just a flow of lava coming down, it's erupting through long

cracks from the ground with fountains.  So far we've lost I believe 5 - 6 homes

as of yesterday.

Yes, evacuation was mandatory in the Leilani Estates area.  Lots of people

are at relatives & shelters.  My prayers go out to the people of Pahoa

District.

Yup, this is part of living here on the Big Island.  But I still love it here.

Great to hear you are okay @AlohaSun. I just got an HNN alert that the latest count is 21 homes destroyed in Leilani Estates.

@SurferWife  Everytime I check for updates, the count for homes being

destroyed keeps going up.  Since this morning to now it's really taking

peoples home at a fast rate.  Yup, count is at 21 as of 5:15pm.

I do have a few friends out that way but are well and in a safe area.

Will keep this board updated.  Aloha my friend.

This is just so scary!  I live in California, and earthquakes are a part of our culture.  I have been through the 1989 quake, and can't imagine the horror of this lava eruption, with earthquakes.  This quale was larger and longer than the 89 quake here.  I really pray for the people, and for the beautiful island...that this will stop.
