Re: Earthquake in California

I remember a couple of doozy when I was living in L.A.  And once in San Jose.   Only thing of CA I don't miss.  Ironically the strongest one I ever felt was in Maryland (I think ....can't remember. Almost a 5.8 centered in VA in July  2015)  Anyway we felt it on campus, and I knew in a flash it was a quake.  Oddly enough my husband was on a plane over Colorado, when the pilot said Maryland had a quake.  There have been tiny tremors too.  Middle Atlantic sits on a ancient fault line.  That one is considered dead, despite it popping up now and then. But it's alive and well from Baja to Alaska/British Columbia.

Re: Earthquake in California

Amazing I have still seen nothing about this earthquake on the news. Hope everyone is safe and property damage is minimal.

Re: Earthquake in California

We lived in the SF Bay Area for most of the 70s and 80s.

Those "rolling" earthquakes were always the worst - I felt like I had vertigo!  And - they seem to go on forever.

I will never willingly move elsewhere, @Grand Happy

Hopefully, this won't turn into another bash California thread.

Re: Earthquake in California

I felt the quake. It was kind of scary. I don't think the Bay Area would have felt it though it was centered on the north east part of California near the Nevada border.
