Hate, hate, hate heat and humidity. This summer has been miserable. I either want to sit and cry or hurt someone when it's like it's been.

For me perfect weather is a sunny day with temps in the 65-70* range with a slight breeze. If I could have that 12 months of the year, I'd be in heaven.

Heat & Humidity is awful for me, too.  80 degrees is too much.  I sweat like crazy, get dizzy, etc...  And that only takes about 10 minutes.

When you find that place?  PLEASE give me a heads up!

I just don't spend time outside in the unbearable heat.  When the temperatures get into the high 80's and beyond, I retire to the cool indoors.  I'm not mailman or a Ups delivery person or gardner.  I don't HAVE to be outside other than to go from my nice cool house to my nice cool car into a nice cool building.   I usually stay inside all day,  I work remotely from home and hubby and I go out to dinner late, after the sun goes down and things cool off.  Even if people don't have air conditioning, they can still keep their homes from sweltering by pulling the blinds shut or lowering the shades and having fans in every room...even two fans at opposite ends of a large room.  That's what we do in our bedroom because I don't like to sleep with the air conditioner on.  I have nightmare about $500 monthly electric bills.

I've been out a few times today on errands. It is 92 - very humid but breezy. The heat really hasn't bothered me much. Everywhere here has AC, and when your outside there is a  pleasant breeze. I wouldn't want to be working outside but as for just walking from the car to a store, or standing at the ATM machine it is fine. We actually chose to have a hot dog at a food truck for lunch and ate it outside comfortably.

I've lived in the hot and humid south all of my life.  I hate the heat.  60 Degrees is hot enough for me.  I live my life right so I don't have to be in burning heat through eternity.  I work in a sweat shop too!  Took this job so that I could support myself after my divorce.  I love a pretty yard but I don't have one because of the heat and mosquitos.  I feel like I'm in punishment until the weather cools off.  Waiting for October to feel alive again.  Smiley Sad

How does hot weather affect you?   Not the ordinary 75 degree summer weather, but the extreme heat most of us have been experiencing.

I have a male friend who is totally energized by hot weather ....   and his idea of a great day is golfing in 100 degree weather!   Predictably, he plans to retire in a desert community.

A neighbor of mine gets literally nauseous if  she's out in the heat too long.  Personally, hot weather exhausts me ... I just want to lay down and sleep.

What is this "ordinary 75 degree summer weather" you speak of?  Here in the Gulf South it's more like 95 degrees with high humidity.  Even so, I have to say that I prefer hot weather to cold weather.   Absolutely everything is air conditioned here, so it's not like we're sitting around sweating in the heat.  My body just hates cold, and even in our mild winters I never seem to get warmed up, even inside the house.  So I have to say this is my happy time of year.Smiley Happy

I love West Virginia summers!    I enjoy the sun and warmth, but with my red hair and fair skin, I am not an outdoors person.   My eyes are extremely sensitive to bright light, so I wear fitover sunglasses outside, inaddition to my regular glasses with transition lenses.

I do not like to be outside in direct sunlight, as my skin reacts immediately, and within mere minutes, I can feel myself burning.   I have never found an SPF sunscreen that keeps me from burning, so I do not garden or mow grass.  My husband ran over every flower I ever planted, so I just have seasonal flowers in pots on my front porch.   I sit on my front porch early in the day before the afternoon sun comes to the front side of the house.   We have sun shades on the porch to block the hot afternoon sun from our living room windows.

I would much rather have this weather than our WV winters.   My monthly electric bill in the summer is around $200, but my winter heating bill is almost double that amount.

I have no complaints about the heat.

I do not do well in the heat at all. I feel like I cannot breathe well, will become somewhat short of breath, my legs will feel weak and rubbery, my head will feel dizzy and I get shaky all over. This is daytime or nighttime and with temps around 80 degrees and up.

I also can't go in the sun - not because I burn, but because I get an itchy, bumpy, annoying rash from the sun. Even with sunscreen. If I need to be in the sun for more than just two or three minutes, even riding in the car, besides sunscreen I wear a cardigan or long sleeve shirt/jacket, fingerless gloves, sunglasses, and a wide brimmed sun hat.

So, no, I don't like the heat, the sun, the summer or anything about it - not even the leaves on the trees. The leaves hide the birds and the squirrels when I want to watch them in the trees. I am counting down the hours, minutes . . . seconds until fall and winter.

Hugs . . .

A new years ago it was 105 to 111 or so for more than a month.  People would put towels over the steering wheel when they came to work because it was too hot to put your hands on by the end of the day.

A few years ago we were on vacation and people were trying to give us water because it was going to be -- gasp! -- 94 that day!  We said we'e be fine because where we live we'd say a Russian Front came through--i.e. a "Cool Off!"
