OP, I learned that lesson the hard way when I was about 10 years old!

We had an above ground pool and I spotted a bee "floundering" in the water .... and all I could think of was that the "poor bug" was going to drown!

Well, I reached in to scoop it up and "save" it ..... and the little #@&% stung me!

Never again .... I let them drown and scooped the dead ones with a little kitty litter scoop. Humanitarian efforts can only go so far! {#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}

Well, maybe it wasn't a nasty bug, but Mom reached down and picked up what she thought was a a raisin that had dropped from her breakfast toast, and it was poop ):
