So much for organic veggies.  It's usually the produce grown in or close to the ground that gets contaminated with E. Coli.

Just left my Acme and they were fully stocked with bagged whole organic carrots.  I needed some, but will hold off till this blows over.

There's no way I'm buying anything other than organic.  I'll take my chances....

@Sweet Kitties

I knew there was a good reason for not eating veggies.

My mom did this too.  I don't know for sure but I imagine my daughter does it as well.  Something happened in the gene pool with me.  Most veggies are at the bottom of my food pyramid (g)

E-Coli usually comes from the manure runoff water from  adjacent animal growers. It happens all the time here near the Salinas Valley.  We're always getting Warnings, the farmers get sloppy with their production.  Two days ago the news was "Only 1 case of eColi has occurred nationwide from carrots".  Not exactly newsworthy.  Wash & cook the carrots thoroughly.

There's a recall in Grimwald Farms carrots. They're sold under many brands, such as Trader Joe's, Whole Foods 365, Target, etc. The recall is for whole unpeeled & also baby carrots. They were selling them since August. The last batch they sold was at the end of October. After people got sick with EColi they finally recalled them. I would think most of the carrots have already been consumed. But if you have a batch of older carrots, I would recommend you checking out if they're on the recall list. I didn't know about the recall until last night, when I got an email from Whole Foods.

I'm going to stop eating raw vegetables. I'll still eat vegetables, but I'll roast or saute them. Instead of fresh salad greens, I'll use cooked spinach, broccoli, kale, or cabbage. There's always so many recalls. I don't feel safe eating raw veggies anymore.

All of the affected produce are ORGANIC carrots.
