What do you do when a buyer gives a fake reason for wanting to return something that's a final sale item, and states it very clearly in the auction?
i doubt it would be able to be re-sold, so I'd be out the cost of the sale.
I realize that sometimes it's better to just accept the return .... or decline the return and get a negative feedback .... or offer a partial refund.
Ebay makes it clear that if you decline the return and they have to step it, it can affect seller status.
What's your experience with returns? TIA !

I always state in my description. Returns not accepted so they better be darn sure they wantvthe item. If they buy it they agreed and that should be it. To me its a legal binding document

I don't sell on ebay but if you read the po!icy for buyers it states:
Be sure to note shipping deadlines and whether an item can be returned for refund, replacement, or exchange.
So, if you put final sale, I wouldn't refund the money because the buyer was aware. I don't know why you would get dinged for being an honest seller. Makes no sense. JMHO

I sell occasionally. I buy too.
Normally, no returns mean no returns.
If the buyer gives you a hard time, offer to charge a restocking fee to cover your expenses.
I doubt one bad review will ruin your reputation.

Here's the thing .... ALL my auctions say Final Sale quite clearly.
The reason for return? "Just didn't care for it".
Seriously.
Grrrrr .....

This person is just trying to get one over on you. I would reply, " Sorry, it was a Final Sale, therefore no returns are accepted." Simple and to the point.

I think I would just ignore the buyer. They paid, you shipped, they received. Transaction done and final.
If they leave a bad review, you can counter it.

That doesn't sound like a good reason for a return. Now,if it had broken during shipping you could ask for a picture of the product and take it from there.
I always thought E-Bay monitored these things.

I'm not a seller.
Just my opinion. I would offer a refund minus the shipping once I received the return in good condition. Unless the item was expensive, I doubt they would accept the offer.

I wouldn't accept it back. If they sent it anyway, I'd write, "refused return to sender" and put it back in the mail unopened.
