It's the day after Easter and the boys throw water on the girls. We celebrated this when I was a child and the girls didn't want to go out of the house that day because the boys would squirt us with a water gun. One time my brother threw a pot of cold water on my sister on Dyngus Day when she was in bed. Needless to say he was in a lot of trouble when my mom found out.

Message out to hatetoiron...another custom we had growing up Polish in a Polish neighborhood. Maybe your Mom told you about this too.
