I received a call from QVC this morning in regards to this model ( I believe ) and to discontinue using it, immediately, as consumers are experiencing fires from it. Has anyone else received a phone call?

I got the call this morning. The heater in question is the small cube tabletop heater.

Is this from this year? I guess I should check the number? What I wanted to say is when that man says you don't have to worry about going near it (at the bottom) or having something close to it, that's not true. We had our kitty bed in front of it (not close or touching) AND my DH smelled something, so he walked over to check it out, and it made black burn marks on our kitties bed!

We still use them but make sure everything is multiple feet away from it. And the one in our bedroom I hit the remote on off and never leave it on when we are sleeping just in case.

To add, we have one from a few years ago and one from last year. The one from a few years ago stopped working for a while last year. (It would time out and turn off) Then all of a sudden it started working (very strange).

I bought a Life Smart Quartz Infrared Heater and it is among one of my best purchases. Haven't heard of any of the Life Smart heaters having any such problems. Can only say this particular heater I bought($69 delivered)heats exactly as advertised.
