We did a few years ago. At first it was scary like oh no it will be a strange new world.
But it has been a wonderful new adventure.
More things on free tv streaming channels that you previously got for lots$$ and more that you never saw.
I do think Youtube is a good option to still be able to watch primetime type shows and live news etc.
I got a Roku which lets you stream everything. It was free with Sling but Sling started to creep up in price and then went to Sling plus or something. I think youtube is a better option for familiar channels you are used to with cable.
Then there is freetv, Roku, Tubi,fawsome-so many free streaming channels that have things you have never seen-movies, series so many. And many have live tv with live news.
You will be so glad you switched and not been at the mercy of xfinity or any cable rising ridiculous prices!

@spumoni99 funny you should ask. I just started this ball rolling last weekend. ( sorry this is so long)
Google CNET compare channel line up.
It will compare Hulu Youtube DirctTv Sling and one other i think.
Scroll down abd you will see the channels and check boxes under the different companies. I needed to see it side-by-side comparison and what channels at once.
I never thought id give up Comcast/Xfinity but im sick of them raising rates, im sick of paying sports broadcadting fees, im sick of paying rental fees for equipment FOR YEARS. Im sick of "updates" interrupting what im watching and im sick of theur arrogance that i have to beg for discounts. They used to be the only game in town.
Im going with Frontier fiber optic 1 Gig internet ( which youtubetv recommends to have) $54.99, free install, free equipment( they have a lower tier 500 mbps for 44.99, but again YouTubetv wont agree to install on that lower mode.
I pay $86 with Comcast internet for only 200 mbs PLUS modem/router rental $15. 00 a month! Thats $101! So i am getting 4x the speed for half the price with Frontier. My IT guy at work has Frontier at home. That is all i need to know.
For streaming im going with YoutubeTv, it has almost every channel i want and more, including the local Tampa news i watch ( but not the local yokel Sarasota tv news i dont watch but if i want to i can go on my tablet to their website if i want to). Im going to finally have Turner Classic Movies back! Comcast put that on their Sports Tier a few years ago. I was so mad.
Youtube was running a special, $10 off a month of their $72.99 service, for a year, autopay ( which i did with comcast). My total after taxes etc.., internet and youtubetv through Frontier is going to be $129. My total this last payment with Comcast/Xfinity was $248 and that is with discounts applied!!!
Im probably going to add Peacock streaming for $5 because I do enjoy their on-demand offering and its become so robust.im keeping Netflix because of a few shows i cant do without.
I need to add that in all my research, Ive never explored Amazon Prime Video, which i get with my Amazon membership. Shame on me!!! I had no idea what ive had access to! Amazon membership is $139 a year. I get a lot out of it with my shopping and shipping but how STUPID that i never got in the habit of watching shows through them. I will look inrto it.
I almost have too much lol Comcast was 185 channels but a lot of repeat HD. Youtubetv has 100+. I'll miss watching Q2 and things I missed in Q3 but still will have Q. No big deal. I purchase 4 to 6 things a year, if that.
I dont go out since my back accident a year ago except to work really, maybe to a friend's if that, so tv is my entertainment. I took this research seriously. It starts Feb 17 ( my choice of the date).

I am not eager to drop our cable/internet/phone package for any sort of "streaming" services which, I understand, are also becoming more expensive.
Good luck!
Comcast won't reduce the bill. We've talked to the Retention Department and even supervisors. They refuse to give any perks or discounts. The supervisor tried to sell us in a really crummy plan for only $30.00 less a month. Ugh! They're pricing themselves out of business.
@Effie54 I don't think they want to be in the television or home phone business anymore.
Now all they advertise is internet and mobile phone bundles. No more internet, television, phone bundles.

@on the bay Said it right!! We dumped cable a few years ago. It was over 200$ and I never watched all those channels.
We have 3 roku tvs and indoor antennas so we could get local channels. For the No smart tvs, we bought roku sticks. But you need internet for that as well as streaming.
Our current bill is $60 for internet/month, 10$ a month for Hulu, Netflix about 15.00 so total bill with taxes comes to about 100$ per month. We also bought our own internet router and hooked it up because the rental fees on the one from Comcast kept going up. With the Roku I have so many channels and options. I will never go back.

Yes, that's exactly what my husband said. You can tell by the expensive in-home visit pricing, and even their lack of upgraded equipment. Ugh! I would never, ever use them as my cell phone carrier. A friend of mine has them, and their fee went up tremendously, and her cell coverage is awful. She constantly has to use hotspots. I'm so sour on that company, I will not use them for anything other than what I already have to.

Thank you @LizzieInSRQ and everyone for replying, this is a wealth of information. I will do what someone advised and compare the different options on google.
Ours is almost 300 a month, I think that includes internet and our alarm but it just went up 30 dollars a month.

Comcast is terrible. I live in MA and some towns like ours have a choice so we have Verizon Fios. Triple play costs around $150 so not bad at all. I get most tv shows I care to watch and have Prime too. We've had this for almost 20 years. They do not increase often either. Streaming services are too complicated to me plus I have a cabinet full of movies to watch.

Check out Pluto Tv on the internet. It's free and might have what you are looking for if you're not married to current tv.
I use pluto TV now to watch old I love lucy episodes, I wasn't sure if that came with our cable or not, glad to hear its independent of cable.
They all have commercials is what gets me, so we pay all of this to watch and still have to sit through commercials! I don't mind in a situation like pluto where its free.

We got rid of cable years ago...We have Roku and Sling blue package which has 50 hrs of recording so no commercials..We pay 45$ plus 6$ for hallmark which is extra...Our internet is thru xfinity and we manage to keep that for 45$ month with a discount..When it expires i call for another discount...I dont watch tv but my husband does and its got all he wants.
