Down South and even in the Wash DC area where I previously lived, you could find Duke's, Hellmann's and (in some places) Blue Plate mayonnaise on grocery shelves.
In Georgia now, all three are in stores, and coupons occasionally appear for each of them in local newspapers. I buy whichever one is on sale, and especially if I have a coupon to go along with the sale.
I believe most people would only notice a difference in the three brands if they ate some straight out of a spoon. The brands are all OK mixed in with other things, in my opinion.
Now......on the other hand, please no one try to give me a spoonful of Miracle Whip. I grew up on that stuff and never knew good mayo until adulthood when I could buy my own groceries.

Deep South (SE Coastal GA) born & raised and it's only Blue Plate for me!
Dukes would be a second, if I couldn't find any Blue Plate, but that never happens.
DH, on the other hand, originally from Ohio, but he's been a GA resident since 1975, only eats Miracle Whip, which he was raised on.
See?? Opposites DO attract, LOL!

I actually have both in my refrigerator. I like Hellman's because I can use the squirt bottle. The Duke's I use when I want to spoon it out!
Don't notice a lot of difference about the taste. But then I can't smell or taste much anyway....

Nothing beats A big ole’ Mater Samich with DUKE’s
WOW! More of that Southern gal thing.
When we lived in Utah for 18 months friends and family kept us supplied with DUKE’s. Bless Them!
@Drythe...you got that right! On soft, white bread. I tried to describe that to some locals at work and they just didn’t get it. Bless their hearts. At least they like Spam!

@DiAnne wrote:I have always used Best Foods but did try Dukes just to see what is was all about. I have friends in San Diego that rave about Japanese mayo (Kewpie) so I ran that down and tried it also. Final result - Best Foods for me.
@DiAnne, I just read an article the other day about Kewpie, curious as to what you thought about it. I read it's sweeter than American mayo, would love to hear your take on it!

Is it really that much better?
@catlover I am a mixer...I combine Kraft and Dukes in my potato salads only...it gives it a good consistency...I use Kraft for tuna and all other foods...the Dukes is really thick and does not taste the same.....all of this from someone who will not put Mayo on a sandwich or burger...![]()

Growing up in NJ we only had Hellmanns or Miracle Whip😝. When I marrried and started moving around with the military, I found Dukes. It is the only mayo I use now.

I'm such a Yankee, never heard of a banana and mayonnaise sandwich.
