Yes Dukes is best. When I moved here in the south everyone used Dukes, I tried it and never went back. Its so much richer, creamier tasting. I recommend everyone to try it. If you cant get it up north or out west see if you can find it online and order it or have a southeastern relative or friend send you some.

@catlover We are DIE HARD Hellmann's people here. We would go without if there was something anything other than.
Well DH found Duke's in out local kroger & giant eagle so he bought a jar. And of course YES we had a backup Hellmann's just in case.
Duke's is dare I say almost better ....this is so crazy for me to say this! I almost can't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes Duke's is almost better than Hellmann's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Duke's is VERY similar but has just an edge over Hellmann's. It's hard to describe. If you're a Hellmann's LOVER like we are, Duke's is well worth trying. You'll like it.

Never heard of Blue Plate - who makes this and what part of the country would I find this one @novamc1 ?
Duke's is no more pricey than Hellman's and it does have a bit of a lemony flavor. It definitely is nothing like miracle whip which has spices that totally change the taste. We don't do MW at all ever. We don't like the taste although we love spices and use them a lot in cooking. MW is too sweet too.
Love our's Hellmann's and now we definitely have big likes for Duke's.

I've never heard of Duke's. But anyway, I gave up all condiments years ago. Not a one in my house.

We use Dukes Light Mayo, and it does contain sugar. But at least it is real sugar, not high fructose corn syrup.

I was at Giant a week or so ago and there was Duke's on Special as they are now carrying it and was showcasing it and other "Southern" products. I'd read about it but had never tried it and was going to buy Hellmans as I'm now out so....I bought Duke's.
What I and my family found out:
*It's much creamier than Hellmans; almost TOO creamy.
*It's sweeter/lemony in taste than Hellmans
*I need to use almost half of the amount than I normally would with Hellmans. The first time I made egg salad, it was egg soup. I had to boil another 5 eggs (had 8 already in the salad) and add them in to make it egg salad as I know it. SInce then, I've used half the amount when making any type of salad.
*It's more expensive than Hellmans (same size jar).
Not impressed, to be honest. When we use it up, I'll go back to Hellmans and that will be that.
@SahmIamSo you're saying it's creamy and economical.
@esmerelda Not really. Maybe if you like the taste. We don't. And unless you KNOW that it's very creamy up front, your recipe is going to be ruined if you normally use another brand. We found that salads (chicken, egg, tuna, macaroni, etc.) became soupy again the next day with Duke's. bleh. Not so with Hellmans. So, buyer/user beware.

I've been a die hard Hellman's fan all my life, but had to try Duke's when it became available in my area. Yes, it was good, but not as good as Hellman's. As far as creaminess goes, I agree that it's creamier than Hellman's, but not in a good way. It's too creamy. Glad I tried it, but I'll stick with Hellman's.

I had never heard of Dukes living in upstate NY all my life. When I moved to Virginia 10 years ago I tried Dukes and that’s all I buy now.

Never heard of Dukes until I moved to SC - I'm a Hellman's gal. When it was on special I gave it a try - did not like it at all - back to Hellman's.

@ShelbelleThat's the thing about "light" foods in general. There's less fat but more sugar. For me sugar is a bigger villian than fat is.
Miracle Whip...I use similar amounts of it and Duke's when making chicken salad.
