Where Amal Clooney and Serena Williams Co-Hosted
Meghan Markle’s Baby Shower
By Joyce Chen
February 20, 2019
Meghan Markle has an eye for ambiance. Back in March 2018, she treated her best gal pals to a relaxing, spa-themed bridal shower at Soho Farmhouse outside of London, sparking copycat low-key bachelorette parties worldwide that were more about decompressing than partying. Now, according to reports, Markle’s closest friends feted her with an equally elegant, ultra-luxe baby shower at New York City's the Mark Hotel, in its grand penthouse.
Who wouldn't want to throw a party in this grand living room?

The space, which has been described as the largest penthouse in the United States, spans a whopping 10,000 square feet and encompasses two floors, with five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and four fireplaces located throughout the expansive space. With interiors designed by legendary French interior designer Jacques Grange, the unit boasts 26-foot ceilings and custom furniture that was all designed by Grange and is unique to the Mark. In addition to the more common living spaces, the penthouse also features its own conservatory, library lounge, and two wet bars. The penthouse also has private access to a rooftop terrace directly overlooking Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and more, with the outdoor space totaling a generous 2,500 square feet.
Although it was likely too cold to enjoy, the suite has a stunning rooftop terrace.

According to Tatler, Markle’s good friends Amal Clooney and Serena Williams cohosted the luxe event, with other guests including Markle’s BFF, stylist, and Good Morning America contributor Jessica Mulroney; Gayle King; Markle’s makeup artist Daniel Martin; designer pal Misha Nonoo (who was rumored to have set the Suits actress up with Prince Harry); trainer Taryn Toomey; fashion publicist Celine Khavarani; Markle’s former Suits costar Abigail Spencer. One of Markle’s closest friends Lindsay Jordan was also in attendance.
The dining room was perfect for serving up some crave-worthy snacks.

Activities for the baby shower were said to include a lesson in flower arranging accompanied by a dessert table prepared by none other than Vongerichten himself. The penthouse suite at the Mark is available for $75,000 a night; Williams reportedly covered the cost. Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child together in just two months’ time, in April.

What a great venue for Meghan and her friends to have a relaxing get-together. Confident everyone had a splendid time with memories shared, fun antics and stories, lovely gifts for the baby, and some great laughter among good friends. So happy they were able to have the weekend together for Meghan's baby shower.
